I need help...again. I had a great recipe for Cream of Crab and now, of course, I cant find it. I know the basics but was wondering if any of you fabulous cooks on here had some secrets you may add to yours. ps. I promise I wont tell a soul your secret.

I have used twin's recipe several times. Yummo! (post #5 on thread below)

I add a little cornstarch because we like our crab soup to be on the "thick" side.

Just made it last night for my Texas Marylanders.

Chop up 1/2 lb bacon and fry it up in your soup pot. When almost crisp, add melt 1/2 stick of butter and then add 1/2 a minced sweet onion; cook until onion is soft. Add 1/3 cup of flour and stir until you have a nice bacon roux, then add your liquids and seasonings from there.

Half & Half
sherry
Old Bay
chicken stock
salt
pepper
crab meat gets added last
