I believe the 900 MHz and below on cordless phones can be picked up on scanners. I have one above and below, the one below is going to the dump soon, but I can here all the static when some ones scanner is tuned in on it. I have a scanner that I don't use much. The good phone is about 2.something MHz. So many dam criminals out there, crazy. Nothing worse than some taking your hard earned money.

It isnt the frequency that matters, it is the modulation. If it is an old analog phone I can listen to that with some cheap gear, if it is digital spread spectrum it is much much harder.

My husband had his cc card swiped at a hotel in NJ. The cc company called and we got it cancelled pretty quick.

A week later a package comes in the mail. Mug of the month - pink zebra stripey frame with some guy's face on the mug. Ugliest mug ever. We all had a good laugh trying to figure out who ordered it.

But then -
A few days later, Disney Movies of the Month - this one not quite as funny with a charge of $50+.

Readers Digest.

A bill for a cookbook of the month. (this one was a bill saying they wouldn't ship until we updated our CC info)

Mastercard was really good about taking all of the charges off of our CC; but it was scary to think they were sending stuff to our home address, because we weren't sure what other personal information they might have about us to steal our identity. We signed up for Lifelock after that to get alerts when anyone tried to open an account using any of our info, because it was all too weird.

Got 3 emails this morning from my CC company. 1 was about some suspicious activity and to call them. The other 2 were notifying me (as requested in my preferences) of "International activity". 2 transactions of $1.00 and 1.03 had been made to some company.

They restricted my account -

I called this morning and have a new card on the way.

This was the name of one of the companys that had a pending transaction of $1.03 - but will be rejected.

The other one is:

I was on my cell making the call, and I didn't write down the names of the companies which rejected (or the CC Company rejected?) the charges for. I need to call them back later. This was 6am and I was just interested in getting the card cancelled.
