Crow's Foot

Can anyone tell me if crow's foot is really a protected plant? I've heard you aren't allowed to pick it, but never saw anything "official"

That's cute and should be left alone.

I believe you're right. Referred to as a weed so I doubt it's protected.

That is big grass and should be pulled.


Those are buttercups and should be left alone if in the lawn but pulled if in a flower bed.

Two varieties of crowfoot are protected, the yellow water crowfoot (Ranunculus flabellaris) and white water crowfoot (Ranunculus trichophyllus) are both listed as endangered by the state. COMAR 08.03.08.05 gives a listing of all endangered species of plants.

as a kids we would make trips to the woods to collect crows foot to make homemade wreaths to sell to earn Christmas money.

The stuff we called crows foot looked just like the running cedar, only they were little individual plants. Running Cedar was attached by a long vine underground.

As far as being protected :shrug:
