Ken King, I agree with the writers opin.
Okay, and now for further clarity (my opinion in red), what I got out of Sowell’s article was that the way Terri passed on was inhumane; agreed
that he wouldn’t want to go like her; agreed
that Michael had a conflict of interest; disagreed
that Congress acted because of the sensed concern of the populace; agreed
that liberals were newly concerned over state's rights, Constitutional separation of powers, and even the sanctity of family decisions; agreed
and that there should be a discussion of some humane way to end life in those cases when it has to be ended. agreed

Somebody define 'humane' for me....

...so we can all be on the same page.

People who know all same the same thing; Terri has not felt hunger or thirst or pain or emotion of any kind for...15 years. All her higher functions, of which these are, do not and have not worked since her heart attacked starved her brain so severely. Everything shut down and died except the few circuit breakers her body could save to keep her alive, her heart and breathing.

Do you know why she and people in hr condition are given a morphine drips? Not for them. For us. Suppossedly people in her state breathe wierd and have all manner of invlountary yips and twitches and morphine settles the body and makes it calm.

It's exactly like sterile needles for lethal injections; so as to not offend our sensibilities.

For anyone who truly cares about Terri, please educate yourself as to what her real condition was.

It is so much better for society when we deal with these things if we're talking facts and not emotions. I'd never want to be in Terri's shoes or Michaels or the Schindlers. This has been horrible.

Not dealing witht the medical facts has turned it into a travesty.

14 days versus a lot more morphine drips and maybe an hour or so on the clock.

Humane for the one about to die and for the family that has to hang around and wait a lot longer for the slow fade from starvation/dehydration. That's what I'm talking about when I say humane.

...what would you want done to you?

He made a suggestion. He wanted to call Dr. Kevorkian.

More morphine drips was his choice. Of course, that could only happen in a state that allows assisted suicide.

Are you being sarcastic or answering your own question?

I didn't side with anyone. I thought it was nobosy's business in the first place. But, I do think that her parents are just outright selfish. They had no reason for doing that than for themselves.
