Give it a 110 reset...
Take a power cord - make it a suicide cord - plug it in and drag it over the mother-board, they will replace it then!
When I was in electronic repair, I sent a board back to Depot 3 times and it was still eff'ed up, and older tech taught me this trick and said "bet you get a different serial number back now"
I'd be more tempted to try that with 12 volts so there aren't any burn marks on the board. You could also selectively put 12v across various chip pins to ensure it fails.

Right click on the desktop and select 'settings'. You can change the resolution to something like 1024 X 768. If that's makes your icons too small, change to a lower resolution.
