Power with Control
Daugher was heading out for coffee in her Honda Fit this morning, heading up 5 NB just past Willows, just past that "sharp" curve. Guy came down the hill going SB swerving between her lane and her shoulder. She did her best, kept it from being head on, he hit her passenger side doing somewhere north of 50mph. Spun her twice, totaled her car. He kept hammering, ripped his right wheel and a-arm off, nailed the back bumper of the young guys Trailblazer behind her. He ended up another 150-200 feet down the road.
Kudos to the landscapers and MDOT crew and the couple "civilian" bystanders, all of whom stopped to help her and control the scence. One guy even took a critical video of the guy when he came out of his Acura. Not one of them left until they were sure everything was okay and they gave the responding officer thier account of the crash.
Pity the first officer driving through the scene didnt stop, but just said, yeah, other officers are coming, and they did, 20 mnutes later. Becuase if he had, he might have stopped the guy who caused it from fleeing the scene, who was still there when he rolled through. Saw that cop at the intersection of Willows on my way to crash scene, didnt seem to be in a hurry. Not a kudo nor a jeer, just an observation that it's a pity we missed a chance to nail the scum.
Jeers the drunk/stoned/whatever scum who was leaving the farm at the top of that hill fast enough to raise a dust cluod visible at the bottom. The guy who was driving a stolen car with stolen tags who evidently, even after having just caused a crash, had his wits enough about to arrange a fuc*&&^ Jason Bourne exhiltration by a champagne colored Jeep with a roof rack. While evrybody else was trying to help, his ride arrived and whisked him from the scene. Now that azzwipe, who could have killed my daughter, is in the wind.
