Daughters Room

I AM GUMBY DAMMIT
My daughter is 11 years old and getting ready to get a new room. Everything from floor to ceiling. Picture this. She wants an 8" white horizontal border at the top with 2" black polka dots spaced around 2' apart. From there to the red baseboard(not my idea) there are going to be 8" vertical stripes, starting with red, then black, then white. All this with black carpet. Mom says "No Way in He!!". I say why not. She's a good kid and a friend has a room similarly painted. I'm also thinking of the 2'X2' carpet tiles for her room and the boys. Anyone ever used them??

I feel your pain!

Bug wanted to go with a black and red skateboard theme. :twitch:

She decided to go with a ballet theme instead. :whew: We have selected a very pale pink paint color. She wanted pink carpet and I said no.

My sister when she was younger wanted black and teal green splatters all over her walls. My mother let her do it including the blinds. It came out cool!

Zman has one big wall and 2 smaller walls in his room....he wants the new SuperCobra painted on the big wall and 2 SuperHeuys paints on the smaller ones all with a "sky" back ground :faint:

I told him, "well, I know what you are going to be doing during summer vacation" :lmao:

It would look great! It would mean lots of primer should she ever change her mind but what the heck. As long as it's what she really wants and not what she wants because her friend has it. I'd try and compromise on the black carpet though - maybe.

The only problem with the black carpet imo is it shows so much "stuff." Like dog/cat hair, etc. She'd need to vac everyday and I don't know too many young girls who'd want to.

We use carpet tiles at work for our buildings and I am thinking about it for my downstairs room. They aren't cheap, but you can replace a "tile" if something gets damaged. And they have great plushy ones out now.

Yeah my princess has me wrapped around her tiny fingers.

You think your child has you wrapped? I was visiting with my daughter, her newborn and her 2 year old. The 2 year old eats his food over a time span of hours as he gets up out of his chair to play, go outside and do whatever else he wants. He stays up until midnight or later if he feels like it. He doesn't listen unless she is physically grabbing hold of him which she only does when he is literally doing something like standing on the window ledge. She wonders what the problem is! I told her the inmate is running the asylum and reminded her I never let her or her brother or sister do that!

I think it sounds cute but I would make it known that if and when she changes her mind the deal would be she has to prime the room. :lmao: If you are worried about the carpet is there not a way that you could put it down, but not permanetly. Maybe tack it down on the edges  Just an idea not sure if it will work. I have boys and they are trying to decide what they want. I painted it a bright Lime or mint green when my first was born and now they are 4 and want a change.
