day trip to DC

I'm taking my 6 y/o to DC tomorrow for a visit to the Air & Space Museum but need something to do afterwards. We've done the Natural History museum every year and don't really care to go back there. I was thinking about the Children's Museum but it looks like the one I remember has closed and the new one is in a renovation stage. I'm looking for something that would be fun for him but that I'd enjoy as well. The weather is looking questionable so we don't want to have to walk much and we'll be taking metro into the city so we won't have a car. Any suggestions?

Are you riding the Metro? We used to take the kids to National Airport and watch the planes, walk around the airport and have lunch. They just loved riding the Metro. I'm not sure how much access you have at the airport now though.

I know there's an aquarium but I've never been. The new WWII Memorial is nice and it's close to the Monument but might not be interesting for a 6 year old and the Vietnam Wall is nearby. Changing of the guard at Arlington Cemetary is really impressive, but then again I don't know how a 6 year old would enjoy it.

Maybe this will help.

Thanks, that looks like a great site, I'm sure I'll get some ideas from there.

The aquarium sounds interesting, I think we might try that, I don't think I've ever been there. Maybe we'll do the WWII Memorial in two weeks when we go back if the weather is better.

I drive by that every day. Totally forgot about it. And it's close to Air & Space.

:howdy: Catt! We drive by tat museum every day too. Since I work so close, I've visited it several time on my lunch hour.

The aquarium is LAME compared to the one in Baltimore. But what do you expect, it's in an office building. One of the museums has a live bug exhibit. Don't remember which one. My kid loved it when we took him. You know how boys love bugs.

Natural History Museum if I am thinking about the right thing. The only problem is you have to walk though a long very hot one-way-in-the-same-way-out exhibit to get to it but my son used to love it when he was little (he seemed bored by it last fall when we went)
