Never used a pressure cooker before, but have been watching the TV chefs use them from time to time. I used to always think they were dangerous (the old ones probably were), but it seems the ones they have today appear to be very safe. You who have and use them probably know more on that, though.

My aunt would can with a pressure cooker. This was back in the 60's. She was paranoid over that thing. Stood there for hours watching the gauge. I would just stay in the other room. She had me so scared of the thing, it took waiting to see how Vrai did with hers before I bought one. Will use it this year for canning. It looks alot safer than my aunt's.

:lmao: Wondering if the whole house was going to go down, too funny. Glad vrai proved it safe. Sounds like it"s terrific for canning, too. :yay:

Just sounds like you are making it more complicated than need be. I don't fry chicken, but if I did I'd cover it with a good batter and heat up my deep fryer.

I had always just dipped mine in flour and fried it. I never would have thought to do a batter fried chicken. Well I ran across a recipe a few weeks back and tried it... OMFG so damn good! Crispiest chicken ever!!!

OH EM GEE....I grew up in Wisconsin and we used to do take out broasted chicken once a week during the summer from the tiny grill (restaurant) on the corner. When I finally tasted KFC, (we didn't have one anywhere near my small town) I thought it was a watered down version of the chicken we got at Zwiegs.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane (I still stop in for a burger whenever I'm in Wisconsin). Never thought of trying the pressure cooker for chicken (we so seldom fry anymore) - now if I could find the seal for mine, I might try it!
