The Smart Hooker
Back in Maryland I had a detached garage. It was okay. My husband used it alot. I have an attached garage but pokes out a bit from the house. I like it alot better. Easy to just throw something in there. I can park my car and go through the mudroom/laundry room to get into the house. Don't have to go outside. There are so many developments here alot of the lots are considered "postage size" and there isn't much room for the detached ones. If you drive around you'll see these huge arse garages...they are huge. Most of the adult communities have them for their RV's.

You can't be serious? Why would someone want a detached garage, when an *ATTACHED* one is possible?

I mean, isn't it better to drive into a basically dry, slightly warmer garage than having to go through snow or rain AFTER you've parked the car?
I love detached garages. Used one for entertaining when the weather was cold/wet and loved to turn up the music in the garage while my b/f worked on my car. Of course an attached garage is nice, too, but a detached provides a place away from the house. Besides, who says you can't have both?

I'm definitely an attached garage person. We store cat food, extra paper towels, fireplace wood, etc, in our garage. I like to run out there and grab stuff without having to put on shoes.
What about a breezeway leading to the garage? It could be all outdoor and you could landscape around the pathway, or it could be an indoor porch.

Larry has all his guitar crap down there and it's turned into a kind of studio.

Sounds like you need a music room or a studio for his guitar stuff. S.O. gets upset with me and my dozen guitars etc.
