With the first one, they bought her into me in the middle of the night around 2 a.m. (I had her around midnight) and told me "Mrs. MEME, you need to take your daughter, she's waking up the other babies in the nursery." For my second and 3rd, I got them when I wanted and kept them however long I wanted (except when they needed to go back to the nursery for tests and stuff.)

But wait, there's more...
DQ spent a little time immediately after birth in the nursery getting gussied up, and was in and out of my room during my 3-day stay (c-section) ... just depended on how I felt, when she needed to eat, visitors, my need for rest, etc.

They wouldn't let me keep my son in with me - not enough room in that third world military hospital.

My daughter was in and out, like Crabcake said, depending on how I was feeling, etc. Mostly in, but I had my tubes tied the morning after she was born and I couldn't get her out of the bassinett without it being a big production.

Well my son is 15 and back then at least at SMHC they had to stay in the nursery the baby couldn't even be in the room when people visited or anything. Then 6 yrs later when I had my daughter I was shocked at how much it had changed. She could stay in my room when people visited and everything. I had worked the day before so I had and I didn't have her until 2:02am so I had been up for a very long time so she was in the nursery at night only.
