When they railed about sexism and racism and homophobia, that was so far outside my world it may as well have been on another planet.
I remember asking my Dad what Hubert Humphrey believed in - yeah I am actually that old but I was also a fairly precocious little nerd -
He licked his forefinger and held it up - and since I didn't understand, he said "whatever way the wind is blowing". So even at a young age, I always knew that politicians said sht they didn't believe at all - they just said stuff openly but had few convictions of their own.
So I always knew - when they railed against discrimination, sure - I saw it - and I was pleased SOMEONE was saying something - because comedians were relentless about gays and female sterotypes of women were - well - annoying. Most of the women in my family I grew up around were no shrinking violets. Grandma was a Rosie the Riveter. Sure, the Dems were blowhards - but they didn't quit.
BUT - you're totally right about the mutilation of kids - I think THEY BELIEVE it will be mainstream. I think - that's how they think - push an idea long enough, and people will agree. Look at how gay marriage evolved. Even Obama - evolved (no, he succumbed to political expediency - or he was lying before - but - same thing). Public opinion on the matter has changed a lot in just twenty years.
The illegal criminal thing is really pissing me off. That guy shielded by the judge, from ICE? He was already coming to court for domestic abuse. He was no angel. The left believes profoundly that you cannot be here "illegally" - and have coined the phrase "undocumented" as to say, they're not illegal, they just don't have a paper trail. Yes - they believe in open borders.
Trying to remember who was saying this the other day - but that whole Emma Lazarus "Give me your tired, your poor..." at the Statue of Liberty? All those waves of immigrants at Ellis Island? Yes - they were welcomed - but they were ON THEIR OWN after that. No translators - no money - no welfare - no assistance - certainly no "in state tuition" or free healthcare. They were my ancestors but damn - they proved themselves worthy. I've seen the farmlands they built when IT WAS FOREST. My great grandfather's property STILL has this massive "stump fence" from the trees they yanked out with their oxen team. I've seen the mines they worked, the roads they built - they were tough, sturdy men AND WOMEN. I know the Depression stories. And the stories in WW2 where my grandfather lived on snakes in the Pacific Islands.
Sorry - I tend to ramble.
