Diagnosed with Fibromyalgia!

My doctor who is just an ordinary MD just diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia! I don't want to sound like I'm in denial but I've since done reseach on this and I do have almost every sign & symptom but want to make sure! Does anyone here have this also? Is there another Dr. I should go to for a second opinion who maybe specializes in this disease? :jameo:

His diagnosis is just that... his opinion based on how he interprets your situation. You most definately owe it to you and to your doctor to get a 2nd opinion. You should be able to do some research and be able to find a specialist and should seek an immediate consultation with the specialist.

BrassieChic, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia by Dr. Asha George in Prince Frederick. She's a rheumatologist. 410-414-3437.

I just did a search on it - and about the only description I can come up with is: "General Malaise"

Did they do a test for Lupus?

That test use to take weeks to come back. I'm not sure how long it takes now.

It never hurts to get a second opinion where your health is concerned.

Personnally, I've heard of the disease but I'm not sure what it's symptoms are or know anyone that has had the disease.

ALOT OF DIFFERENT SYMPTOMS....PAIN mainly in different areas, neck, back, shoulders (front & back) different points in the arms and legs....problems w/sleeping, night sweats, headaches, fatique, depression, heat intolerance...Gosh that's enough! :jameo:

Seems like they tested for everything under the sun! Yes Lupus, Addisons, Thyroid and so many other! :jameo:

I had severe back pain and I went to an orthopaedic doctor who did a mess of tests that came back negative and tried several epidurals and other injections that didn't relieve the pain. Then he sent me to a bunch of different docs who tested for a bunch of different stuff. When everything came back negative, he sent me to the rheumatologist, who tested me for a bunch of other crap I didn't have, and that left fibromyalgia. :curtsy:
