Part of the problem is Under Armour, which switched its focus earlier this year from large-scale sports retailers to mid-level department stores. Consumers can now buy Under Armour products at stores like Kohl's, where goods go on sale more often and where consumers can use coupons.

The other half ... well ... Dick's Sporting Goods CEO Ed Stack tried to couch it as best he could, but it's clear that destroying the company's stock of AR-15s and other assorted "assault rifles" had an impact on Dick's bottom line.

The anti-gun crowd must not buy a lot of sporting goods.

too bad so sad, maybe if you were not a sheep you would stand up to the 1% of loud mouths. be an American and embrace the 2nd amendment, its the only thing that stands in the way of government and your right to self defense and if the LIBTARDS or should I say communists take the house they will do everything they can to ruin your life. GOD Bless POTUS

Clearly they don’t miss your business.

Too bad you cannot read.

Dick's Sporting Goods had a rougher-than-expected last quarter with chain-wide sales tumbling 4%, according to CNBC, and the retailer is placing the blame, at least partly, on its own decision to "pull back from the hunting business."

They pissed off a fairly sizable part of their business, the people that buy "assault rifles" also generally buy a lot of other outdoor stuff so it also affects their camping business etc.

Can't spin this.

Then there is always this..

In the Wall Street Journal report, Dick’s said that comparable store sales from the previous year had fallen 4 percent, and the company’s same-store sales from the previous year were down 1.9 percent.

The results, according to the report, were clearly weaker than expected — especially considering that consumer confidence for the month of August was the highest that it’s been in nearly two decades.

Dick’s added that in addition to their new gun policies impacting sales, Under Armor’s decision to sell in other stores beyond Dick’s has hurt numbers.

It's hard to say whether Dick's decline had anything to do with it's policies on guns. But it isn't a stretch to say that a store that placed a large investment in their business in the gun and fishing industry would be hurt by taking a stance that gun owners do not agree with. The Dick's in Hunt Valley always seemed to do a good business when I was in there. It is now closed. Obviously something changed in their business model and blaming it on Under Armour is rather weak.
