Diet Plan?

no. The entire purpose is to lower your carbohydrate intake. So instead of looking at the color of something, learn how to a read a label or use a food tracker and pay attention to the carb counts in food. the "white" is only a cheater. You cant possibly be succesful on a low carb diet without understanding the mechanics of it and how it works. but I will say that even a slight decrease in carbs is enough to help some people..my roomate lost like 20 lbs just cutting a few major sources of concentrated refined carbs without really adhering to any sort of plan.

My doctor told me that if someone lowers their carb intake by 50% they will still have great weightloss results. It all depends on the person. I'm diabetic so this diet worked great for me.

people eat WAYYY too many of them. I adhere to a low-ish carb lifestyle and still eat lots of things as occasional treats. I've had so many people tell me that i "need" carbs for my brain and energy blah blah..but they don't realize that I intake quite a few..they are just from natural sources, fruits and veggies..you don't NEED a bagel for energy..:killingme

Exactly. If you love eggs, cheese, and meat...it's the diet for you. But, if you have slow bowels, it is not.

Lactose intolerant; no cheese for me; and eggs don't "stay long" either.
Oh well, D-I-E-T is a nasty four-letter word anyway.
Hey, maybe I can do red meat in moderation, chicken, fish and pork; and just ride a bicycle in the middle o'winter. Slow bowels? Not me.....

Sodas are my weakness. I NEED caffeine to survive.

Cut out all junk food and sodas. You'll lose weight. Most men can lose weight by just cutting out sodas. And if you're a beer drinker...quit.

Me too. It's what gets me out the door in the morning

Not a beer drinker; since '93 actually; but I do like my Dew.....and Doritos and Sunflower Seeds.
I guess I could cut out the MT DEW and the Doritos.
Decisions, Decisions.....

Another part is eliminating "sweet tea." I LOVE sweet tea. /:-\

I have used splenda in my tea for several years and love it. I drank SWEET tea all my life and needed to drop that cup of sugar a day.

I have dropped over 60 pounds since last December by cutting down on how much I eat not what I eat. :yahoo:

I still think it's not what one eats; but moreso how much one eats.

Didn't read much of this, buttttttttttttttt...

Just buy the extremely healthy stuff at the store. Make your meal(s)... portion them out or whatever...

As long as you don't have the junk food in the house, it'll be easier to eat healthy and see gains quicker. I don't recall overeating on veggies and seasoned chicken too many times...

But there comes a time when you're just d*mn tired of chicken, isn't there?
I say that knowing that I could eat grilled or broiled chicken 24/7; and a big bowl of "bunny food" every other day.
As far as "junk food" we have sunflower seeds, tortilla chips and Arriba garlic and cilantro salsa and a handful of what is left of the Halloween candy in the house. I'll take the chips and salsa any day/time of the week.

Last night we had Turkey meat loaf. Didn't even have bacon of any kind on it.
It was good, but not what I'm used to. Dad says to me, "Your Mom and I are gonna put you on this diet one way or the other. Huh?" I said, "Yeah, I guess; but eating "healthier" (I made "air quotes") won't really hurt, I suppose."
I'm still gonna have my WaWa subs and the occasional Salsa's too though.....

I've gotten to the point, after trying just about everything out there... that it comes down to calories in - calories out.

I've done the low carb. In fact, I did it for 3 years mostly on and I did well. But the moment I tried to have some normalcy in my eating, I gained weight quickly. Now, I watch my calorie intake and exercise.

Low Carb = Meh... you are 100% correct with the CALL IN/CAL OUT.

If someone wants to get to a point faster it takes more than dieting, but I think for most people dieting is the toughest part. For me:

Workouts: 10%
Cardio: 10%
Diet: 90% (add the extra 10% because it gets tough)
