Ass-hole
I was channel surfing when I ran across this show. Can someone please explain to me how a show about two men, who I would bet have never been laid, carry metal detectors and cream their pants everytime they hear a beep, made it to TV.

I love this show and find it not only entertaining, but educational as well. My son, who has a metal detector, watches it with me.

Some missing elements...

a) LOTS of time wasted digging up...garbage (even if you have discrimination on the meter)
b) All the travel coast--they are ALL over America
c) Getting permission to dig: which can be frustrating.
d) Who keeps what they find? They are NOT keeping everything, and if they wander off the designated lands, penalties could be very severe if on Federal/state lands.

So yeah, I would get excited to find some rare finds: its just cost prohibitive to live that lifestyle as a hobby.
No, real detectorists don't go nuts over "Nectar".."Juice".."Roundness"--but it is a thrill to find a cache!
