No phone jack at all is needed. The only time you would need a phone connection is if oyu use the remote to order PPV movies. If you order PPV using your online account on the internet you don't need it at all.

And if you do choose to hook up a phone line, it's not wireless, just a standard plain ol' phone jack in the wall.

When we hooked ours up, we were required to have a phone jack at the tv. It's for system updates to the receiver or some such in addition to the PPV.cool! thanks guys
No outlet near where the living room TV is, so I bought a wireless phone jack at radio shack. I wired a new jack in the bedroom for that TV.

I wonder if you can just run a phone cord with an adapter at the end .. I have a phone jack @ 10 ft away from the tv, I hate to waste 60$

If you have Tivo you need a phone jack. Programs will not update without it.

nah just basic service.. i have a 25ft long phone cord, think I will just buy an adapter and say.... here's your jack ... $4.00 vs 60.00
