Disable the built in laptop joystick

Is there a way to disable the built in joystick in the keyboard of my laptop? I think it's partly jammed making the pointer move uncontrollably off to the top right corner of the screen. Makes it a pain in the tookus to use the laptop.

Boot into the BIOS setup mode, or if your model has it, you may have a SETUP program in your Start/Programs menu. You should be able to turn it off from there.

In the control panel or down by the clock there might be an app for it - like Alpine Touch Pad or something to that effect... you should have a setting to disable the joystick...

Dells are notorious for doing that... Especially the ones on NMCI.

Easiest way is to disable the trackpad/stick mouse in the BIOS. Or set it PS/2 -USB, which will disable it when an external mouse is plugged in.

However, if the mouse it moving on its own and getting the pointer "stuck" in the corner of the screen, there is a bigger problem at hand. I would have the keyboard replaced. The moving pointer is usually a defective stick mouse on the keyboard.

I have two different Dell Laptops and both have a program (comes with the DELL) for disabling it when it detects a USB Mouse. Works like a champ - no BIOS changes needed for either one. That was why I wanted to know the model so I could check.
