Dishydrotic Eczema

I have this on my hands right now and I am so miserable? :frown:

Does anyone else have this problem?

No? I'm the only one of all forumites? I figured. :coffee:

I read that it affects 1 in 5000 and it is brought on my stress...:banghead: Which means I will never get rid of it. :bawl:

No, you are not alone. :huggy:

I've had it since I was a kid, although I haven't had a major breakout in many years. I remember having to sleep with cream on my hands with gloves or plastic bags covering them to try to get rid of it. :frown:

But I have other forms of stress-induced eczema, which right now is acting up after being dormant for years. :ohwell:

since you're usually the spelling police, I should point out that it's dyshidrotic

I had to google it...lots of blisters. That really sucks. Sorry to hear about that. Sounds like you need a spa day to relax.

It can be caused by:
They are under stress
They have allergies, such as hayfever
Their hands are often in water or moist
They do cement work or other work that exposes their hands to chromium, cobalt, nickel

Do you do cement work, have hay fever, or play in water?

Isn't it awful? :bawl:

I have an appointment with a dermatologist next Wednesday... The last time I went in for this was when I was 20... they put me on a steroid that caused my body (immune system) to attack itself and the rash got a billion times worse. :banghead:

My daughter has it, looks pretty miserable. BUT I have found a few things that really seem to help..hers seem to be allergy related and clear up quite a bit when she takes a small dose of antihistimine. it puts you at risk for a staph infection because of the broken skin and itching, and keeping a 2 year olds hands and feet clean is tough :killingme so i keep mupricin around if I see any signs of staph..with MRSA in the community now, thats the big concern with it.

aveeno has an excema oatmeal bath soak that really helped her..id imagine it would be a nice hand soak for when the itching is real bad. She also has a good non steroid cream from the derm that works well at night..I forget the darn name of it off the top of my head.

My son has eczema and I've found putting coconut oil has really helped clear it up. I'm not sure if that will work for you and your fancy type of eczema.

My older sister has had this for some years. It comes and goes with the level of stress in her life. I'll ask her what she does when she is having a bout with it.

Have no fear she has had it for some time and is still with us. My suggestion is to find your happy place and spend some time there.

Awwww, WR!

If it makes you feel any better, the bottom of my left foot is breaking out and at the itchy stage right now. I am rubbing my sock against it gently, but I feel like taking a sponge to it.

I hope your itchy feet feel better. Let's go buy new shoes just in case it is an allergy to your old shoes that is causing it. Let's go to DSW.

In the short run, it may not help the itchy rash, but seriously - exercise will help you out with stress. Do some form of aerobic exercise everyday. EVEN IF you only walk fast for 30-45 minutes a day. You could power walk 1-1.5 miles one way and then back to your house & that is about 40 minutes. (about what I did when I was walking)

It helps reduce stress. Really. Plus, it's free and you can do it right from your own house.
