It's been nearly three years since the Dixie Chicks sparked a media firestorm by announcing they were "ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas." Now, the embattled country stars are reigniting the blaze with a highly controversial documentary featuring lead singer Natalie Maines calling President Bush a "dumb f---."

The Dixie Chicks are big losers. I would guess that even people who don't like Bush don't really care for the way the Dixie Chicks do business.

But wait, there's more...
Dear Natalie, since you won't listen to your faltering record sales ...

Dixie Chicks.......Ann Coulter.......Michael Moore.......this is what makes this country great. Where else in the world can you speak your mind to the masses? I may not agree with what every left or right extremist has to say, but just they fact that they can makes this country so awesome!! I just turn the channel if I do not want to listen. Would I buy Ann Coulter's book? Sure, once the price goes down, just like I will buy the new Dixie Chicks CD. I love hearing all sides of an opinion, regardless whether I believe it or not. I have read a couple of Michael Moore's books, and look forward to reading Ann's also. If everyone listened to all sides of an opinion with an open mind maybe Congress could actually get something accomplished.... :patriot:

Didn’t she herself apologize for being disrespectful for her earlier comments? IMO it’s only a media grab.
Her "apology" was far from that.

Oh.. I only caught the tail end of a news report on the radio sometime back. I don't like them myself and do not listen to their music...the only time I hear their name is when the little fat one says something.

What's your point, he IS a dumb ####.... almost as dumb as the people who continue to make excuses for his inabilities.

Would you be opposed to the Dixie Chicks if they took the other route? Wholeheartedly supporting The Bushies despite all the evidence that they were wrong in every regard?

Prolly not, I'm guessing.

Country music is now only "country" if it kisses the Republicans' asses.

"We, the neutered...promise to be passified by the rulers...."

etc...

NOT Politically Correct!!
Damn, close this thread, don't spread any more press for these b!tches, that's what they want!!! :lalala:

Lovin' being Texican
Why should they get any richer?

I really like their music, which is why I never miss an opportunity to download it for free on the internet.

Yep. And he's so dumb he's managed to mastermind conspiracy after conspiracy while leaving no evidence behind. Everything from the WTC bombings to the whole conspiracy to thwart Dan Rather.

I'm amused at the people who continually charge that he is both stupid, and at the same time managed to cleverly manipulate events while leaving not a trace behind.

I've never met him - I know people who have. I know a guy who's talked with him at length and knew him before he was even in politics. One thing he is NOT is articulate, and neither am I, at least not in person. The Post recently gave a list of the books he's read in the last two months - all 27 of them. I haven't read that much in the past two YEARS.

He may not be articulate, but if he's dumb, I'm brain dead.

At least country fans can spell "pacified". Unless you're inventing a totally new word. I'm disappointed, however, that the best you can do is just insult country fans. It's probably the only reason I'm disaffected by the Chicks.

Sure, they have a right to speak their mind - and amazingly, their "dumb f*ck" comment was a reaction to Bush's reply to Tom Brokaw that they have the right to say whatever they want and they shouldn't have their feelings hurt that some people responded by not buying their records, because freedom is a two-way street. Their brilliant reaction was not to take issue or to argue his points but to cleverly call him a dumb f*ck.

My disappointment with the Chicks is they blame *THE FANS*. They blame country music. They "took back" their apology. They made being "victimized" by the whole thing a career in itself. They behaved like spoiled children. I don't dislike them for that, I just don't give a crap anymore.

But your analogy fails - the "opposite" approach would be to be nasty towards the Clintons, or to Gore, or to John Kerry, publicly. Because for one thing, politics isn't this guy right and all those guys wrong. Well, it might be if you're liberal. And it similarly doesn't make sense to be against someone because they're loyal to someone despite evidence to the contrary. Most hard-core political types are *EXACTLY* that way - hence, we have people like Ted Kennedy continuing to serve as a Senator.

But I meant the comment about maybe if you're liberal - because no one *is* "wrong in every regard" anymore than a hair style is wrong in every regard. By any reasonable measure, right or wrong in politics is entirely subjective. Most conservatives I know believe this - which is why, most conservatives I know are far more tolerant of differences of opinion than liberals are. You don't even have to go far to see it; Bush has responded repeatedly through his administration with patience and tolerance for those who disagree with him. Clinton and Gore called them right-wing nuts and extra-chromosome. Which side of the aisle pounds the lectern with hysteria? Which side patiently declares that they simply disagree?

Considering that I disagree with Bush on a number of issues, the answer is yes, I would be opposed to them if they had blind loyalty to Bush and his policies.

But the Chicks don't really mention policies and what, specifically, they disagree with Bush on. They pretty much call him names and that's the extent of their political commentary.

One of the things I find disturbing about the Democrats going off the deep end is it sets us up for one dominant party (the Republicans) and marginalizes any opposition. Even though I AM a Republican, I still don't think it's a good idea for them to have complete authority. I like balance because it keeps everyone in check and they can't get too carried away.

I think the most frightening thing the Dems ever did was to put Howard Dean in charge of their party. It showed the country, right then and there, exactly what the Democrats are all about and that the MoveOn and DU nutties aren't so fringe after all. :ohwell:

Isn't that what most of his critics do? Call him names? About the only other thing they do is weave these intricate conspiracies and assail his motives. When Clinton steals files on his opponents, it's a careless oversight - when Bush listens in on conversations between terrorists and Americans, he's overstepping his authority and is power-hungry. You'd think if that were true, you could find ONE case where that happened.

You're right, though - most stuff I get from liberals is name-calling. I could discuss the issues if they came up with any.

I'm still trying to figure out how, if we went into Iraq for oil, why we're not just taking it outright. I can't for the life of me figure out if it was pure naked greed, why we're not actually profiting from it - at all. Usually on these cop shows, they can guess whether or not violence was done for personal reasons or robbery - because if it was robbery, the wallet would be empty and the jewelry would be gone. Well, Iraq still has their jewelry.
