Okay, my husband and I recently got rid of cable tv (bye bye Metrocast!) and we're enjoying Hulu Plus and Sky Angel. That being said, there are some tv shows from the national networks we're missing out.. Does anybody know how to get the local channels (ABC, CBS, Fox...) without cable tv?? I know there have been some recent changes done to how you can access them so I really have no clue where to begin. Thanks in advance!

How are you accessing the Internet for your PC? If it's a decent speed net (not so much DSL) you can connect your PC to the TV as a large display, and go to any number of sites. You can go to NBC, CBS, etc... or Hulu which can re-direct you.

You could also install a rooftop antenna, but that's very iffy in this area unless you get a really good directional antenna, rotor and line amplifier.

:yeahthat:

Most sites put the shows up by the next day after they air. Fox, however, locks them for 8 days, unless you're a Dish or DirecTV subscriber, I forget which..

Because the media services we're using are internet based, we did keep Metrocast as our ISP (they're the only 'real' game in town).. We are going to the network websites right now, but it would be easier if we could just watch them through some sort of converter (preferably w/out an antenna)..

PC to TV is really the only way to do it, unless you have a newer TV with network and Internet applications already built in, and even that is limited.

If you still have metrocast for your internet, then you still have cable. :winkwinkwink: Not that I would know this for sure. I'm just assuming.

A lot of TVs have tuners built in, and can pick up the basic stuff without a tuner box. You would have to memorize channels and such. Some even pick up HD broadcast channels, but that a bit odd, they end up with channel numbers like 124.3

Of course, doing this without paying for basic cable is stealing, and that I cant condone. I have full service, but the kids TVs and my bedroom one dont have cable boxes.

Yep, that's how you find them, but unless you have an eidetic memory, your going to need to write them down:buddies: Since a scan takes a few minutes, a bit of a pain to do that every time you watch.

 ? You run the scan once and the TV remembers it, even after a power down. From that point forward use the advance/back buttons until you start to remember where the channels are. The TV will display the channel # and call sign in a little window for a moment or two.
