Does anyone have an empty Pandora box?

slotpuppy

Ass-hole
Put it in a small plain box and wrap it. Put that inside a bigger box and wrap it. Rinse and repeat a few more times. Much better surprise than a pandora box.

Ix-nay on trying to pass off a Pandora-like bracelet as the real thing. Guys may not be able to tell the difference, but women can, especially if they suspect you are *intentionally* deceiving them. Our :bs: detectors work in mysterious ways. Better to be honest and leave it in the box it came in or suck it up and buy her a real one.

Why should he apologize for asking the question? Most men are not born with the jewelry gene that many of us women have. I am sure whatever he gives her will be lovely because it came from her father. No one should apologize for asking any question, after all is that not how we all learn?

Because it was a stupid question. Did you not see every reply say DON"T DO THAT !!! Doesn't take a Genius to figure that one out. Had nothing to do with jewlery, has to do with putting whatever it was into a box saying whatever it isn't.... Put a black and decker mixer into a Bosch Mixer box, would you like that???????????? :buddies:

Here's the problem with those fad gift items that are all the rage: only the specific fad brand will do. You cannot get a knockoff and call it good, especially since in this instance the bracelets say "PANDORA" right on them in a prominent location. So you either get the specific fad item, or go in a totally different direction with your gift.

It's marketing, groupthink, and it sucks, but it's a fact of American life, especially with kids.

So BCM, that was thoughtful and sweet of you to get your daughter what (I'm assuming) she asked for, but it really has to be Pandora or no charm bracelet at all.

Because it was a stupid question.

I don't think it was a stupid question at all; what he wasn't thinking about is that he'd never get away with the ruse. I don't know how old his daughter is, but even if she's a very little girl either she or her friends will figure out that the bracelet isn't Pandora.

I think BCM can be forgiven for not knowing the power of the brand name, because THAT is what's stupid, not him wanting to swap the box.

This is similar to buying the generic brand cereal and putting it in the Tupperware Cereal Containers & destroying the generic brand box. The kids will figure it out.
Bottom line is the daughter's feelings may be really hurt when she figures it out or someone tells her it's not a real Pandora bracelet. I understand where the poster is coming from but it's not really a good idea.

Is there a particular reason for shouting at me in your response? I read everyone's response. I was simply pointing out that many men are not perceptive to this type of thing because they don't usually jewelry shop.

As far as the rest of your post I cannot tell you how many tricks I've played on my kids and other family members and I routinely have received gifts that were not what the picture on the box but was simply because the box was being reused.

There is no such thing as a stupid question. What is stupid is not asking the question at all.:coffee:

If you insist on getting the adult version of a candy bracelet,

Get the Pandora bracelet, in the Pandora box.

Then buy the Not-Pandora charms.

I knew a stripper once that used the name Pandora, but trust me you don't want anything to do with her box.

The whole Pandora bracelet thing is lost on me....BTW.. I don't think they are particularly beautiful. Seems like a trend that will die soon enough and the bracelet will then be down valued. JMHO.

It's just a fad, like Cabbage Patch Kids or Furbys. 10 or so years ago it was those Italian charm bracelets that everybody bought like crazy (including me) then stuck them in their jewelry box to forget about.

I got one last Christmas they had some gift jewelry box thing where you got the bracelet, two clips and the 2012 Black Friday charm. I know I put at least another $250.00 in to it buying charms, beads, a safety chain. In the end I ended up selling all of it. A couple of charms by themselves. The set on it's own and included the jewelry box.

To be honest I am not a fan of silver or white gold. I tries to buy two tone pieces and then gold filigree beads to get that two tone look. I am obsessive of keeping my jewelry looking good. I found that when I took all stuff off the bracelet had a lot of dirt or tarnish where the beads were. I only managed to fill the top section for the money I put in. The bottom sides on below the clip were bare.

Worst part was that when cleaning and polishing the two tone pieces the gold rubbed off even though I was told it was solid. Huge waste of money in the end.
