If you have pets you should never place glass bulbs and tinsel on the tree. :nono:

Actually, I never had a problem with my dog. However, I also keep him out of the room that my tree is in unless I am in there with him by using baby gates. There is only so much temptation a dog can resist.

Keep a squirt gun handy and shoot the critters whenever they mess with the tree.
Also, don't handle the ornaments after frying bacon.

My daughter's neighbor's beagle died last year by electrocuting himself when chewing on the lights on the tree.

I've got a few holes in our tree because my cat decided to play with it. He likes swatting the branches back and fourth. So far it hasn't fallen, so I'm not worried.

I can't wait for Christmas morning. He's going to LOVE playing in all the wrapping paper. :lmao:

My dog is scared of the tree. It twinkles and she thinks its alive.
The cat only tried to climb it the first year - the resulting crash has stayed in her memory. She avoids the tree now.

After many years of using nonbreakable ornaments, avoiding tinsel and anchoring trees to the wall to keep the cats and dogs from taking it down (one year it went down 4 times before we decided to anchor it), dog
"watering" the circumference :nono: and cats ripping packages open, we've decided to have a "Christmas Room" safety away from all curious creatures. :howdy: Seems to be working and they can enjoy the tree through the french door. :yay:

Dog and the x-mas tree 12-22-2005 01:07 PM Dumb. No glass around pets

Ok. to the person that left me the red. I'm just finding out that he is incompatible with the tree. I have had him for less than a year, so this is his first christmas. Sorry I'm not up on this stuff like you guys are....

Wouldn't it be nice if people could refrain from being jerks at Christmas?

Our two older cats couldn't care less about the tree or the presents. Baby Kitten, however, is endlessly fascinated and wants to chew every bow and bat every ornament. We let him because - who cares? Everyone knows we have a spoiled cat that we indulge constantly so if they have teeth marks on their package, they'll have to get over it.

My cat would rather roast his chestnuts in front of the fireplace, hell with the tree.

Isn't that funny. I don't have too many gifts even wrapped yet. But my kitties love to make each wrapping their own. A little crimp here, snag there. They are thoughtful that way.

My animals are too dumb to even notice it's there. Even the big dog hasn't been a problem.

Now my youngest daughter. (She's 8 and in her 6th year of the terrible twos) thats another story. She's already pulled it over on her once. Took an eye hook, some twine and tieing it to the wall to keep it safe from her.
