The point of the park is that it is enclosed with 8-10 foot high chain link fencing.. The dogs can run around freely, without you being scared they will run out into traffic, or having to be stuck on the leash.. There are dog poop laws, and getting caught not scooping poop actually levies fines!

We dont need no stinking dog park. What if the nearby neighbors are scared of dogs?

I figured you to be more afraid of those ghosts than a domesticated animal.

Who's going to pay for this? TAX PAYERS.
Besides you missed one of my key points. If we have a dog park why cant we have a cat park, gold fish park, hamster park, pet snake park, alpaca park, and so on....

I'm pretty sure I pay a hell of alot more taxes for kids that I didn't spawn to have a playground or go to school than you will for a simple chain link fence. As for your key point: start using that education I paid for and quit being ridiculous.

Its not that I hate all dogs. Its the really big ones that bark at you as you walk by. They seem to send off a signal to me through they're barks and foamy mouths that the only purpose they have at that moment is to bite me in my a$$.
So to answer your assumption I do like some dogs, I have one myself. Its just the big scary ones that frighten me.

Looks like a debate and sounds like a debate.......must be a debate. You jumped into this forum without reading the entire contents and links and made an A$$ of yourself without any help from me.
If you read the posts, you'd have known that I intend on utilizing donations, posting rules, self policing and the only thing that the park workers would have to do that they don't already do at the tennis courts is collect the trash can right outside the fence. As it stands they already have to empty the same trash cans I already throw my dogs excrement into at the moment. Would you rather I just let me dog run around the entire park and lap your face or that I have her inside a cage playing with other pups?

Huntr's just pizzed that he might get another speeding ticket and have to do more community service to work off the fine/points by scooping up dog shiat.

Ok, im willing to hear the reason why you all want this. I as well as everyone else is paying for this. So as a tax payer how will you present the case as to me and others why we need a dog park?

Why a dog park?
Dogs benefit by getting to exercise and socialize off-leash with other dogs in a safe environment. People benefit by having a place to socialize with other dog owners. Elderly or disabled owners have a place to take their dogs for exercise. The community benefits by promoting responsible pet ownership and public health and safety. Hundreds of dog parks across the United States have been started since 1991 and have been very successful.

Thanks for the info Chrystee, sounds good.
Its too bad Woodyspda had to be a tard about it.
A dog park is a good place for dogs to interact with each other and their owners. Taking your dog to a dog park enables the dog to learn proper behavior when faced with the unkown. A dog that is properly socialized is less likely to attack another dog or human. Having a specific area in a park or an entire park dedicated to dogs allows better interaction between those who enjoy the company of our canine friends. It also allows those who aren't so fond of dogs an opportunity to access their favorite parks without being intimidated by the animals.

I took Mily (pixiegirl's impending pup) and the troops to the dog park in VA Bch. What a blast! A stunning Ches. Bay Retriever had a orange dummy to chase after and one of the younger dogs nabbed it before he could. There were about 7 dogs chasing after that dang yellow lab with that orange thing hanging from his mouth. He'd turn back and make sure they were still chasing him and slow down for the dogs to catch up. My little dachshund coonhound mix would try to keep up but those legs aren't made for speed, so she'd cut em off at the pass. This went on for at least 10 minutes, resulting in tired and happy dogs. Dog parks are great for all the reasons Chrystee's friend stated. I couldn't stop laughing as they ran circles around us. You get to meet people you normally wouldn't and are bonded by your mutual love and respect for all dogs.
