I think he takes the whole "dominance" thing a little too far. He puts the dogs in situations where they have no choice but to give up. Try reading Jean Donaldson's book, The Culture Clash. It really explains alot about dogs and how they work. I've trained my dog using her and Joel Walton's ideas and its so neat to see a husky CHOSE to offlead heel and CHOSE to come to me while chasing a deer. For those of you with huskies you know thats quite a feat :yahoo:

I wish mine would CHOSE to start going to the bathroom outside again instead of using our kitchen floor as her new potty. Man, they are so hard-headed sometimes. She will go outside and do her business and then come inside and finish up. But she's cute and she's only a puppy so I'm patient.

Do you know where she came from? I have a rat terrier who wont poop on lead or when you're around because his last owner did the whole rub their nose in it thing. Patience, patience, patience....

I don't like his (Dog Whisperer) philosophy at all. I love Canine Mind.

Canine Mind is positive training..no force. I just don't buy into the Dog Whisperer's whole dominance thing.

I like how he uses his body to communicate with the dogs though. Dogs understand touch...they don't understand, "C'mere Fluffy, c'mon, Fluffy, HERE!...sit down, sit, sit down. Please sit down, Fluffy."

 He teaches people to use the same simple commands every time. Reminds me of the Far Side cartoon.

Canine Mind teaches the same thing..you have to SHOW the dogs what you want. And everything is HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!

Brett and her teaching assistants arent all giddy, they just keep things from being negative, which most of the time turns out bad for the dogs.
