DOGE and USAID -- nothingburger?

They are correct about the IDIQ contracts. An IDIQ isn't an expenditure at all but pre-negotiated prices on particular items the government buys often so they don't have to go through a contract vehicle every single time. So a 600M IDIQ contract doesn't even mean any money has been spent at all, just that it could potentially be a total of $600M so the vendors set prices based off of that. An IDIQ contract is a great time saver, say I need to buy a $20k piece of gear, if its on an IDIQ its easy, if it isn't then I hvae to do a ton of work, bids have to go out and the waiting game has to be played.
I only dealt with smaller contracts. They're still structured similarly, in that they have a base plus options (for the most part), but 5 years was the longest, and most frequent contract I dealt with for logistics services.

But don't you see how that would be ripe for abuse and fraud? Just because you are honest doesn't mean everyone is. There's stuff going on that I never dreamed of because I don't think that way, and I'll bet you never dreamed of it either.

You simply make a deal with the vendor that you "need" this other stuff because they give you a percentage. We all know the govt bidding process is rigged. How likely is it that the company that gave us the best deal also happens to be a Senator's nephew or your Representative's college buddy? Or a shell corporation owned by an elected official? Hell, Larry Hogan was the king of that. That's probably why he's been laying low and not calling attention to himself while all this DOGE stuff is going on.

It's not going to be *you* who gets greased , it's going to be someone much higher than you who's on the take and has no oversight. Or maybe it could be you because you have purchasing power, but most likely you wouldn't even know it was going on.

They've been ripping off the government (read: us) for so long and for so much money that people who played by the rules are probably kicking themselves they didn't get in on that action.
Oh there is, the running joke is every new initiative started by a high ranking military officer will be followed by a "retirement" job afterwards.

In the end it's near impossible for someone at the "government drone" level to cheat the system. Anyone at the approval level has their finances investigated.

Like I said previously the IDIQ has the same number of approvals required it is just "pre contracted" prices and does save money due to not needing to weeks of repeated labor over and over.

Did you ever stop and thing why the media doesn't do a story on how DOGE actually saved taxpayer money? Any Trump story has the media bending over backwards to find the 1 exception to anything he says or does.

Trump speaks candidly often. Plus he's getting a lot of crap done on a daily basis. And the media is like a starving dog seeking out a meaty bone of information that they can slant and make everything Trump said or did a lie. And they never get called out on it.

The fake news story is always on page 1 above the fold. The corrections, if it ever comes, is always on page 39 or later. Remember this is the same media that for 3.99 years told us joe biden was as sharp as a tack. We were seeing the best version of biden. And now they are all writing books about how brain dead a US president was for his entire administration.

Expect these sorts of news stories for the next few years. But do your own research. If it comes from CNN or MSNBC, know that they have a gold plated Trump axe to grind. And grind they will.

Buddy of mine works for a contractor providing some service in Africa, not sure exactly what. Lives in Thailand, hangs out on Kwajalein when not either home or in country.

He's a Trump guy, in favor of this whole deal. One of his cooworkers, not so much. When Dave posts anything about Doge, this guy goes high order.

You know what? I don't care. Believe what you want to believe.
I deal with GOV personnel who do procurement of both small purchases and contractual purchases. I can attest that what PE "believes" is 100% TRUE!
If you do not have a complete understanding of the process which is being discussed, it is perfectly OK to say "I don't know" or "I could be wrong." :yay:

Combine DAV with VA...........
Savings right there. Today was total bullshiit jumping through hoops.
Saw DAV guy on getting disability increased. He got the ball rolling initially, DAV happens to be at the VA clinic so I assume they're one in the same right?
Wrong, after DAV I go to optical, need new glasses bad........... not on file. Went through the maze and found "enrollment". (I'm already getting 30% from VA, so I'm enrolled right........? Wrong, whatta shock. Filling out form............ what is wifes SSN? Like I would know? Back to clerk, gave him dictionary of old navy phuck you asssholes and left.
OBTW 30% doesn't even buy dinner for two, that happens at 50%. All they do is take 600 or so from retirement and get a separate payment for the 600 which is tax free. Total gain a whopping 50 bucks a month or so.
DAV guy said I should get at least 80%, (which means 80% of my retirement added to) that will make a difference but even at that I'd like my hearing back and steady hands. If I wasn't retired I WOULD get the % of my highest pay grade straight up.

Our disagreement is whether or not there is fraud in this system, and whether or not it should be addressed. I say of course; he says because he personally isn't a crook it means nobody is.

Speaking of pigeons on chess boards.....

If Trump said he like chocolate ice cream the media would scream what's wrong with vanilla.

To me the bottom line is, at this moment in time paranoia, desperation, impotence and frustration is ALL the left has left. They sing it every day and they sing it LOUDLY!

And my point was that the fraud and corruption is going to be several pay grades above him, and he wouldn't even likely realize it was going on.

Follow along with your own conversations and no one would be able to point and say your point is wrong. Stop pretending to know everything about everything and then, when soundly proven wrong or confronted by someone who knows what they are talking about, you run off in a huff."

I think we are getting disconnected between DOD and GOV. I cannot speak to how it works for HUD and State and Ed. All of my statements and it think PEs related to DOD.
