And the logic ain't logicking because we already have prototypes set up in this country to assess how it works and if it's effective. People aren't going to buy groceries and sneakers out of someone's trunk to save sales tax that they're saving in eliminated income tax, unless they already shop that way.

The overlords don't want it simplified. They want a behemoth federal government Gordian knot so We the People won't look too close at it. Not that we'd look at it anyway because when push came to shove we couldn't even agree that government needs to stop spending so much freaking money on bullshit.

Originally it was under Treasury. Then in the 60's when the DOT was formed, the govt was looking for agencies to put in the new department. Because the USCG maintained the national aids to navigation system, performed inspections of US flagged vessels, and administered seaman licensing, they were put there.

Walk yourself back down that logic path and rethink your position. If you still stick with it I'll explain how you're wrong, but I have confidence you'll catch it.

I'm not to proud to admit I can't see the logic here. If you tax the low end at 50% that'll equate to <5% of the high end of the tax payers.

Weird agency, it can belong in Customs and Immigration, EPA, or Commerce. More law enforcement than defense.

IIRC when I was in Canada, I was able to reclaim all the taxes I paid there when returning to the United States.

Guessing that we do something like that - so foreigners aren’t obliged to pay our taxes.

Go to national sales tax in lieu of income tax? Eliminate the IRS, just need a few treasury people to collect it from the states. Just spitballing.

People people people, listen up here. The only reason we have an "income tax" is to pay the interest on the debt the US government borrows. This goes for State and Local collecting income taxes as well. The US Government has been basically taking out interest only loans since forever.

If Congress took over and issued United States Notes, backed by a precious metal standard, which is its responsibility to begin with, there'd be no need for a Federal income tax, because, that money would be issued with no interest attached.

Federal Reserve Notes aren't US currency anyway. It is bank currency. Its use is foisted upon us by the legal tender act. And Congress' unwillingness to issue US notes. You all want to end the income tax? Then the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 must be abolished, with the power to issue currency restored to the People via Congress.

All other talk is everyone just pissing into the wind.
