See if your friend has a neighbor with kids who would walk the dog after school. When we lived on base, we put up signs for someone to walk our pup each weekday afternoon for $75/month. Two homeschooled children who didn't have pets of their own jumped on the idea, took the job and split the pay. It worked out very well.
