:yeahthat: not to mention the children here who have lost one of their parents.

I'm with ya, TLat. If we're going to change attitudes, we're going to have to do it through the next generation. I think what this guy's doing is wonderful and shows great foresight.

 yourself. In an unstable environment, kids need a lovey. Somehow, rocks and spent shells don't do the trick.

I think everyone here is missing the point. I was always taught that it is better to give than to receive.

THESES ARE CHILDREN!!!!!!!!!

Every child needs a little something!

If I had it I would send something to those kids!

Yesh, Lovey, things hahvent been the shame since that nashty Saddam fellow emptied out the bank! (Didn't Mr. Howell have a teddy bear?)

Toys for Tots, helping your neighbors, stuff for the orphans from this war, AND help for the kids in Iraq are all good ideas. Get out and show some love this holiday season! (Republican or Democrat, to refer to Otter's post from yesterday).

Thoughts from the past...

Berlin..1948

One of the pilots flying the Airlift (to try to feed & supply the wasted city after the Reds cut off all land routes) saw children gathering behind the fences and waving from piles of rubble. He decided to make little parachutes and tie candy-bars to them-Every time he flew into Templehof he released a load of these candy-chuts over the kids....crowds gathered to look for his plane-other pilots got involved and soon His home community church was collecting stuff for the destitute civilians & orphans...
Well, as you know the Airlift saved Berlin and the Ruskies opened up the land routes again in May 49...BUT

That small gesture was not forgotten

Fast-forward to the 1990's
The heartland of America was frozen and buried under multiple blizzards...The cattle were dying...Farms were failing- A group of Germans (once small children sitting on brick piles) tracked down the community that sent them a measure of hope back in '48 and sent gifts, food, and money to help out the farmers.

Philanthropy is not generated from greed or humanism--it comes from people recognizing the needs of others, feeling compassion even toward former enemies-and showing the Love that we could not find within ourselves-rather coming from Bethlehem 2000 years ago.

God Bless you vets, and servicemen today-you are our best.

I agree with you!

We should show these folk over in Iraq that we care about them as people and not as posessions, like "Insane" did.

God Bless All Our Servicemen and Women Over Seas!!!!!!
