Dear Demsie,
Please do not think twice about giving a little girl a doll. It is perfectly normal. Doll phobia is not. Most little girls cherish their dolls.

Don't give that to my k... 08-07-2007 08:28 AM coming from someone who limits her kid's toys.

That's right. I do not let my son play with toy guns and such. I do not see a need to teach a kid violence.

then pretend that you are teaching him self defense and explain to him that it is his constitutional right to defend himself, but never to instigate such actions.

Did you play with dolls as a child?

I had a few Barbies (although I'm told I preferred My Little Ponies insofar as toys went), and plenty of plushes (like cabbage patch kids, Rainbow Bright, Strawberry Shortcake, Glo-Worms, etc.). I also loved G.I. Joe, He-Man, Ninja Turtles, Robotech and Exo-Squad and had full collections of those action figures.

But no, I didn't play with baby dolls. I remember burying my sister's in the sandbox because they looked dead.

He will take karate or some version. I do not believe in guns. That's just me. He can make the choice to have one when he is old enough to buy one. The end.

Hmm...gotcha. I had one of those talking dolls when I was little. I thought she was the coolest. My big sister didn't agree. The doll went missing one day, and I'm still not sure what happened to her.

CPK and their hideous names are terrifying.

I renamed mine when I adopted them. That's a great idea. I am going to buy 2 for my girls and name them after them. :yahoo:

 So, the CPK were only terrifying because of their hideous names? Does any little girl with a CPK really call the doll by its name?

I wish Grammy would have given my son a doll opposed to the freaking mutant hermit crabs... PSA, don't ever buy someone else's kid anything that's alive unless it's a mexican jumping bean! I swear I'm going to wrap up those damn crabs and give them to her as a b-day gift!

I did. I even named my dolls that did not have names.

P.S. I was joking about CPK being terrifying.

You know what was the scariest doll ever? Teddy Ruxpin :twitch:
He was kinda freaky. My mom hated My Buddy. She said that he watched her bend over one day. She swore that his smile changed. :lmao:

There are post in this thread (to many to count on two hands) that I have had to resist the urge to reply to.
