Double stroller

Hello!I wanted to get opinions on double strollers. Are they useful to have? I am due in December and my son will be 34 months old at the time I have the other baby. Do you think I would get use out of a double stroller? I am thinking of times when my husband is not with me and I am trying to keep track of both children, while getting something done. Thanks for the opinions!

They are nice to have. I had two of the front back ones and they both broke. I finally put the money into the side by side one and love it. I made sure to get the one that has the wheel that unlocks in the front because alot of them are made for jogging and this one is for both.

I had a side by side one and it did not fit in between clothing racks while shopping and created too many traffic jams in the mall. :boo:

No. We got one when #3 was born. #2 was 24 months. Used it 3, maybe 4 times. Front/back are too long to be able to use them in stores like clothing stores where you have to twist and turn around the clothes racks. Inconvenient in crowds. We found it easier to use the regular stroller for #3 and put #2 in an umbrella stroller.

I had twins when my son was 19 months, I should have invested in a triple stroller b/c it was quite a task to do ANYthing...

I did get a side-by-side and a reg. double stroller... The double one was a Graco and it was nice b/c you just snapped the twins infant carriers right into place. Once they outgrew their carriers I invested $ into the side by side... I got a Combi and it was over $300 but it is a very nice stroller and a little more compact that others.

My guys will be 4 soon and the stroller is still like new. No problems. Actually they are each approaching 40 lbs and that is max capacity for the Combi side-by-side so I think I will be parting with it soon.

I haven't used it in months anyway...

When all 3 were tiny, I'd usually put the 19 month old in the back of the Graco stroller, one twin up front and carry the other twin in my front carrier... This is how I grocery shopped etc...

You're child is a little older so you might want to wait and see how things are once time gets closer - if you can avoid the double... They are a PITA in some stores...

The side-by-sides are supposed to fit in ANY plane that is handicap accessible but that is not always the case.

I don't or didn't use mine for stores. I did take it into JCP a couple times. I had one for walks, reniassance festival, etc. They either walked in the stores or a cart. I guess I shouldve mentioned it was used mainly for outside stuff.

I have a 2 and a 3 year old. I still use the graco double stroller - mostly for outside outing. We love to take walks and we use it for Six Flags and Festivals. My 3 year old at times is allowed to walk, but she still gets tired and is happy to sit awhile. I guess it depends on your kid - do they currently stay in the stroller and will you be going places where you would prefer to have them in the stroller.

My son hated! At 3 years old they want nothing to do with a stroller except for helping you push it!

:yeahthat:
I got a double stroller before having my son but my daughter was only 19 months at the time. I hae not used that thing in months! Well I take that back. I still like to take it when I have both kids shopping so that I have a spot for shopping bags!
BUT that being said if my daughter was the age she is now when I had son I probably would not get one. Or I would try one of the sit and stand ones.

No. We got one when #2 was born. #1 was 29 months. Used it 3, maybe 4 times. Then put it away to collect dust never taking it out again even when we had number 3, finally giving it away to some poor unsuspecting person who insisted they needed to have one. Front/back are too long to be able to use them in stores like clothing stores where you have to twist and turn around the clothes racks. Inconvenient in crowds. We found it easier to use the regular stroller for #3 and put #2 in an umbrella stroller.

:yeahthat: My three year olds will not sit in a stroller anymore... They walk with me, or in a cart sometimes when we are in the store. They listen VERY well, for the most part. I think it's because I've always let them walk versus putting them in a stroller everywhere we go.

If we go away somewhere, I'll bring the stroller but 9 times out of 10 it's just space that could have been used for something else.

On the topic of strollers, before you go buying a new one, check the thrift stores. Salvation Army and Waldorf Thrift Store both had strollers yesterday. There's a BIG thrift store off 450 inside the beltway. They always have a bunch. I bought a car seat frame stroller there last week for <$10.00.

They are definitely useful to have. I'd get one - you won't regret it!

Here's another reason not to get one. Space HOG. It took up the entire back end of our minivan. Wouldn't fit in the trunk of our Pontiac Grand Am.

SAVE YOUR MONEY and don't buy one. Seriously, I am down to 2 double strollers. I bought another Sit N Stand and I bought an Eddie Bauer one that folds up the size of an umbrella stand and I probably used each one twice.
