That's the sad part... look around. Not many parents are doing their part.citysherry said:It amazes me how many morons are raising children. Dr. Phil didn't impart any great new parenting skills, it was all common sense parenting.

Stuff I already know... thanks.citysherry said:It was nothing more than an hour long infomercial for his new book “Family First.” Stuff like don't let your children divide and conquer the parents, don't undermine you spouse's authority in front of the children, don't fight in front of the children, don't raise your kids to be materialistic spoiled brats, you are your child's parent not their friend, etc....
Didn't see it, but I heard the commercial on the radio that claimed the kid has 9 of the 12 markers for serial killers. I found that type of advertising to be despicable. Part of me expected the psychiatrist to say, "Ma'am, since your child is destined to be the next David Berkowitz, we should just kill him now to protect society." (Hey, isn't that the premise of "Minority Report"?)kwillia said:I caught the part where the family is raising a potential serial killer...

Tonio, he told the parents that their son had 9 of the 12 markers when Jeffery Dalmar(sp?) only had 7. He told them that it did not mean he was destined to be a serial killer, it meant he needed immediate intervention to get him back on track. He then proceeded to detail the good qualities about their son and gave them suggestions on how to draw on the good qualities and nip the bad traits in the butt.Tonio said:Didn't see it, but I heard the commercial on the radio that claimed the kid has 9 of the 12 markers for serial killers. Dr. Phil isn't out there for you perfect parents like you... he is there for those who obviously haven't a clue. I, personally, would rather him be there than not be there if it means once clueless parent will wake up and smell the teen spirit.Vince said:Common sense parenting. Dr. Phil
I understand that. My point is, the ad didn't say anything about intervention. The whole thing sounded like this urban myth: http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/hoaxes/sister.htmkwillia said:Tonio, he told the parents that their son had 9 of the 12 markers when Jeffery Dalmar(sp?) only had 7.
