Instead of taking the 14th Street Bridge; I would travel Route 1 across the Woodrow Wilson Bridge.

:yeahthat:

In order to avoid all of the lights in Old Town Alexandria, you can pick up the George Washington Parkway (south) from the airport and follow it to Duke Street (Route 236) and make a right on Duke. Go a few blocks and then make a left on Route 1 South and you'll almost be at the exit for 495/Woodrow Wilson Bridge.

one thing to think about is that they just changed the traffic pattern on rt 1 and things get really backed up heading towards the WW bridge. Thats why i would take Suitland parkway, not to mention it gets you out of the city pretty quickly

Worst case scenario, they get backed up from the exit for 495 to the WW Bridge (maybe 3 miles?). Still better than Suitland Parkway...tons of traffic that way too.

:yeahthat: It goes by very quickly; I travel Telegraph/Duke everyday. When I'm dropped off onto 495, the wait time is anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes.

Driving Directions From National Airport to Solomons

Did he ever make it all the way here? anyone know?

To everyone that provided information on driving directions, thank you very much. I actually flew back to Florida tonight. The route I used was National Airport to DC, across the 14th Street Bridge, I-395, then exiting off to South Capitol Street. I took that across the Douglass Bridge and picked up the Suitland Parkway. I stayed on the Suitland Parkway to Rt. 4, and took that all the way into Solomons. Except for some traffic in DC on the way out, it was a smooth drive. I believe it took me just under 1 1/2 hours drive both ways.

I enjoyed my brief time in Solomons and Lexington Park. It seems to be a nice area, and my prospective employer wants to make an offer. We'll see if what they offer is what I'm looking for. I just need to find out what the salaries are in the area vs. the DC area vs. where I'm at now in Central Florida (which is a lower cost area than DC and its suburbs).

Thanks!
