They know the rules of the road in CO, too. Very courteous drivers.

Its also like that in A LOT of the mid-west states, I love driving out there. I hate driving in New England.

I used to spend 6+ hours in my car a day and I understand that why you want to rush, but I found out the hard way that its not worth it. So if your not happy with my driving slower then go around....but as for me I will not stay to the right just so people can speed past. I generally stay to the right anyway but when I have to be in the left lane people can deal.

:yeahthat: There was a woman in the fast lane that would NOT even go the speed limit or change friggin lanes. I had to wait for the fully loaded dump truck in the slow lane to get up to speed so I could pass her. Friggin :loser:

Now thats re-damn-diculous.

WOW!!!! you have alot of rage there.....Just because I feel like people should slow down doenst mean that I drive slow. I still pass people myself, and as I said earlier...but before I read this...I stay to the right unless I need to make a left. But I still refuse to cater to people who drive way too fast. I do not ever put my family in danger with the way I drive. Im way past that stage in my life where I need that rush from driving fast. I really enjoyed that part of my life, but it was time for me to move on and a 5 point ticket and then an accident due to someone else with my family in the car have made me decide that I dont need to drive as fast as I did before. Im not trying to be an ass on the road or on here, I am just doin what I can to keep me safe, and my car dent free.

Have you driven in Colorado Springs during rush hour?

No, but I've driven in Denver during rush hour. Lived there for a year. Rarely encountered the rude drivers that I encounter here every day. It has been the same when I've returned for visits.

I drive slightly above the speed limit and often have to pass cars, I get in the left lane. However MD is full of dipsh!ts that think they have to drive 75 in a 55 and often dont give me a chance to get back over in the right lane. I dont merge back into the right lane until I am atleast two or more carlengths infront of the car I passed, but alot of the time these dumb asses squeeze through that hole because they are too impatient. I had to slow down once when that was going on, redlight ahead of me and that moron about got sandwiched.

Drivers Ed isnt the problem......its peoples attitudes.

I lived in the Springs and commuted to Denver for 5 years. Denver is fast and forgiving.
I lived in Colorado Springs for over 24 years. Saw it go from a population of 100K to over 400k, We had The USAF Academy, Peterson AFB, Sheriver AFB, Ft Carson and NORAD. Ent AFB, in downtown closed in the 70s, The Chidlaw Bldg closed later. The vast influx of military personnel and their families from all over the USA and the rest of the world made for a unique traffic / driving experience to say the least. I cursed it for years, and still say if one can drive in COS they can drive anywhere.
We had a visitor stay with us in about 1990. She was in from DC, said that "she could keep up with the best of them". She went back home just shaking her head.
I love Colorado Springs! I just hate the traffic.

For the most part I would say that those left lane lovers just don't have their head in the game. The same can be said for those yakking on their phones, reading, applying makeup or shaving, eating those huge sandwiches, or any of the million other things that can be observed daily. Come on people, you are supposed to be driving and paying attention to what is going on while you are getting to where you are going.

As for those that seem oblivious to others using the road I feel it is a matter of courtesy to vacate the left lane as soon as it is clear to do so, unless you are preparing to make a left turn. But according to the law, section 21-301 (b), unless you are moving 10MPH slower then the posted limit it seems to be legal.

Text of that section – Special rule for slow-moving traffic.- On every roadway, except while overtaking and passing another vehicle going in the same direction or when preparing for a lawful left turn, any vehicle going 10 miles an hour or more below the applicable maximum speed limit or, if any existing conditions reasonably require a speed below that of the applicable maximum, at less than the normal speed of traffic under these conditions, shall be driven in the right-hand lane then available for traffic or as close as practicable to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway.

Soccer mom in a black Toyota SUV with a Mill Creek Middle School bumper sticker. Prince Frederick RT 4 South at 8:40 PM left lane at 54-56 mph 17 miles to RT 760. Tailgaters and light flashers didn't phase her a bit even after she got off the cell phone at around St. Leonard's.
