Was there ever a definitive answer on who was operating the drones and for what purpose? Or did this story just die of natural causes, like Joe Biden's cognitive function?

Yes! It was announced earlier this week that every drone flight was approved by the FAA. There was not a single flight that was a mystery to the Biden administration.

Some were classified as research, some hobbyists, and the others just ordinary people just flying their drones. The media blew it up to distract from other news.
