Hello? Do you live in my house and pay my bills too???????

Sorry, but there is a reason for my pc to be on 24x7. My computer is the host for our internal network and I have a child in college who is always on the net regarding homework. And time is money. If I need to know something quick, I don't want to have to wait for my pc to boot up.

And-turning them off and on can do more damage then leaving them on. (on/off buttons do break).
:yeahthat:

I leave my faucet on and my garbage disposal running 24/7 just in case I need to grind something up real quick; time is money. My house is 6400 sf and I only pay $125 a month for all electric and my water bill from running the disposal was $18 :ohwell:
*toot, toot*

We've always left the computer on overnight, and it's better for the computer in the long run. :yay:

And if you put the computer by your thermostat in the winter, you'll save a bunch on your heating bills. :lmao:

Buy as much memory as you can afford. Don't upgrade the processor speed, because they are ~all~ so fast that you can't keep up with them anyway. Spend that money on memory. Your performance will be much better over the long haul.

Personally, I'd go with a CD-RW. In the business world, CD's are quickly giving way to DVD's due to their higher capacity. For the home user, I don't think the need is there yet. The computer will probably need replacement before you can't find something you need available on CD-ROM.

DVD will allow you to watch movies on your PC, which is useful in a college dorm setting, or on a notebook you travel with. I don't think you need it for most home settings (unless you live in your parents house and have to jockey for TV time when you want to watch a movie.)

I use my CD-RW with iTunes to put the music I have purchased onto CD's for the car. Although, I'm considering an iPod so I don't have to shuttle the CD's around.
