Does anyone have ideas?

I am a new pre-school/Kindergarten teacher.

I don't have any children, so I don't know any songs or projects off the top of my head.

Any EASY projects would be much appreciated!

Two childhood favorites of mine that seem to have fallen out of favor are handprints in clay and shadow pictures.

Use the lights and flicker them for quiet. "I spy" is a great game for when you and the kids are stuck waiting for something. The only way to survive is to have detailed plans. Try your lessons to see how long they will take. Have a few extra go to lessons if you need them. One of the most amazing Pre k teachers I got to work with had two games she did on a regular basis. Take a tray and put items on it, show the kids the tray then cover with a blanket, sneek your hand in an take one or two items and have the kids tell oyu what is missing. The second game - Gather your kids on the carpet and give them one, two or three step directions. "Please Go to blocks and bring me a blue square." Remember to respect the kids and treat them like people. Look in every child's eyes in the morning. You will get to know if they are tired or feeling sick or need a little love. Try and give them time to talk to you. Kids will trust you to protect them. Make sure you get your circle time routine down cold and do it the same every day. Good luck, it is a great job!

Boy did a hand print and then made it into a turkey for thnksgiving in K. I still have it on my fridge and it makes me tear up sometimes remembering how tiny he was. :blushing:

I always loved it when I would go to pick my boy up and he would have some painting or glue and glitter project that was never dry and then the paint gets all over the car upolstery:killingme:

Go on eBay and get a copy of any cub scout handbook and/or leader guide. They are full of easy educational activities.

Have student stand near wall with bright light facing wall causing a shadow of students profile. Tape a piece of black construction paper to wall, draw shadow outline. Cut out and paste to another sheet of construction paper, students color choice.

You'll have to adjust the light to get a clear line on the shadow.
