eBay and Paypal....

I won an auction on eBay last week. Paid for the item through paypal, and received the item today.

The item was described as NEW. I cannot believe that is true. It has scratches all over it, the sticker inside the clock is peeling...it had sticky type substance on it, which looked like jelly. There was also extra sodder(sp)around the clock, in drops. I am pissed. This was supposed to be a gift for hubby. No way would I give this to him.

My question is: Will paypal refund my money? Will they include the shipping costs I paid, which was damn near close to the amount of the item itself, or just the price of the item?

Thanks!

WDF. So worth the wait.
Unless the seller is willing to refund your money, you have to put in a complaint with paypal and ebay. It's a process that can take awhile. A lot of the time, when faced with bad feedback the seller will step up and try to make things right. Good luck.

Right. First things first, file a complaint with the seller. If he does not play ball, provide negative feedback which is viewable by all, and use that feedback as input for your discrepancy with ebay/paypal.

If you won an item two weeks ago today that was shipped that Friday and you had yet to receive it and you had contacted the seller three times thus far. Would you report it as an item not received?

When you contacted the seller, 3 times, did you get a reply?

What did the seller say..FIRST thing you talk to the seller..I hate a buyer that just jumps right in with both feet..usually the seller is willing to work with you..

So, I contacted the seller this afternoon and told her that I was not satisfied with the item.( HARLEY DAVIDSON WALL CLOCK...ALUM DIAMOND PLATE..LOOK! - eBay (item 320292365857 end time Aug-28-08 09:01:03 PDT) )

As you can see, the clock looks good in the photos, and was described as new. Obviously, this is NOT the item I received. Mine was full of scratches, etc..

She informed me that it WAS the item in the picture, and that it DOES NOT have scratches etc. I also told her that the item was listed as Harley Davidson, when in fact, it is not. She admitted that it was MADE by her hubby. She offered to send me another one for just the cost of shipping, OR a refund of the purchase price. (if I paid to ship the other one back).

I paid almost $15 to have the original one shipped to me..and she wants me to pay ANOTHER $15 to ship it back? Why in the world would I pay $30 shipping, for a $19.99 refund? I asked her that, and she stated again, that she is not held responsible for shipping charges.

I told her that I was going to file a dispute through paypal, and leave her a negative.

Any thoughts on what Paypal may do?

eBay and PayPal will investigate and determine who is responsible for the item and charges. I've filed a few complaints and won all of them, but it took a while. The longest took about a month before I finally received my money back. Good luck!

It's been a long time since i had a problem with a seller. If I remember correctly, paypal is going to tell you to eat the shipping both ways. It also take a while for the dispute to be settled.

Has the seller replied?

Yes each of the three times.

Email one last Tuesday I inquired as to when the item was shipped, so I could be on the lookout for it. I was told mailed the previous Friday.

Email two was last Thursday, I stated I had still not received and I inquired as to whether they had opted for signature confirmation and I also asked for address verification. I was told will check with post office Friday, no other info.

Email three last Friday, I stated that still no item or response to my questions. I indicated that if item not received in the next few business days, I would have to report as item not received. Response was " Do not threaten me!! Do what you will do. Do not panic the post office said it is on it's way. Seller also stated that address was correct and that if I wanted better shipping I should have asked for it.

This was my second Ebay purchase I just paid as soon as I won. There were no other shipping options offered. So my mind then thinks I am being BS'd. I mean how the heck can the post office tell you it's on the way without any kind of confirmation, insurance etc. this item was $212.50.

Seller states I mailed it oh well to you. Well how do I know that?

Thanks...I really wanted to be fair to the seller, but at the same time, dont think that I should be responsible for shipping charges, due to the misrepresentation. I will wait and see what paypal decides.

I believe, that if you open an "item not received" through paypal, they will make the seller prove the item was shipped. Usually with a DC#.

I understand completely. I am trying at all costs to give the benefit to the seller. They have a 100% rep. with over 150 by their name. Does that mean that I lose over 200 bucks and never get my purchase though?

Can't post a linkie to the item as it was a gift for my love.

Item was coming from Conneticut to Maryland. I could have walked from there to here in this amount of time.

So should I wait any longer before I report it?

Did you receive a tracking number when the seller sent you shipping confirmation? If not, I would probably go ahead and and open and "item not received" complaint. If it was a good seller, I doubt they would have gotten pissy with you.
I am a huge ebay shopper and the only time I have had anyone get upset with me for questions was the two times I was getting ripped off.

I don't think it is required. Most good sellers will let you know that the item has been shipped, which shipper, and the tracking number. Buyers can track their own package and they don't have to deal with buyers always asking about when it will be there.

I have sold a lot on ebay. At this point, I would be concerned why the package hadn't gotten to my buyer. If your seller isn't concerned and isn't helping you out, I would open a complaint.

All I got was "USPS on Friday August 22, 2008" I don't want to peeve the buyer as I really hope that they have been honest and truthful but I am out the money and don't have the item two weeks later"

Would you give it a few more days?
