eBay and Paypal....

WDF. So worth the wait.
All I got was "USPS on Friday August 22, 2008" I don't want to peeve the buyer as I really hope that they have been honest and truthful but I am out the money and don't have the item two weeks later"

Would you give it a few more days?
If it was shipped usps, then they gave the buyer a tracking number. If the buyer can't give you that number, there is a problem. It might just be that they shipped it as media mail or something, but if they give you the number you can look it up and know for sure.

I am referring to the postal service and not UPS. Are we on the same page? If so I will post the complaint tomorrow after work. Thanks for all your help.:buddies:

Yes, us postal service. same page

YOu need a delivery confirmation in order for it to be "tracked", and that is basically the computer saying when it shipped and when it was recieved nothing in between.

I have been able to get USPS to make sure something without the delivery confirmation, however it has been over a year since i have done any major shipping through them.

It depends on the type of shipping through the postal service. If it was sent via Priority Mail, then there is a confirmation number that is given. If confirmation is purchased, then you should also be able to track it to some extent, but not like FedEx or UPS where you can see where it is every step of the way. If they sent it parcel post, then there is not number, but perhaps they at least have a receipt that they could scan for you? Did the auction specify the type of shipping via USPS that you were supposed to receive?

I have also sold (and bought) quite a bit on ebay and always tried to send my buyers the confirmation #, just for their peace of mind. I would politely ask for a confirmation # or a scan of the receipt (don't make it sound like you doubt him), but ask it in a way that makes it seem like you need the information to check with your local post office. Perhaps he will be more helpful then. Good luck!

This is a copy of the emaiol I sent last night.

Sorry, I am not trying to jump the gun so to speak, but this was only my second Ebay purchase. I was so excited I won, I just payed and didn't think about asking for alternative shipping. I thought that was on the seller's end.

Could you provide me with the tracking number you recived when you mailed the item or DCN# if that applies. Your timely responses have been greatly appreciated.

Here is the response I got to it.

I am really surprized that you do not have this yet. I am going into the PO tomorrow am for a pickup and will check into this tomorrow again. Hopefully they can shed some light as to where this is. If I get news of some type of delivery then you will of course need to check for it on your end. If I get assurance that it was in fact delivered then there will be nothing more that I can do at that point but let's see what happens tomorrow.

Still no item as of this afternoon.:coffee:

Good Luck, but be prepared for disappointing news. The big problem here is that if the seller shipped it via USPS standard, there is no tracking number. You only get a tracking number if you ask for one and pay extra. The seller, and USPS have no way at all to find out where the package went without that tracking number.

I had that very same thing happen to me. The seller basically said, "tough luck, I shipped it". That was the last time I dealt with him.

For any shipment, insist on USPS with a tracking #, or UPS.

Low and behold it arrived the next day. Imagine that, the seller was really most helpful and even though I honestly feel the item was misrepresented, I chose to just suck it up and be grateful I got it at all.

I am very dissapointed with the postal service as the package was marked Priority Mail, and the sticker stated exactly what the seller had told me. "shipped at 8:35am on Aug. 22, 2008" I have no idea why it took 13 days to get from Conneticut to Maryland. :ohwell: You live and learn.

Solution

I won an auction on eBay last week. Paid for the item through paypal, and received the item today.

The item was described as NEW. I cannot believe that is true. It has scratches all over it, the sticker inside the clock is peeling...it had sticky type substance on it, which looked like jelly. There was also extra sodder(sp)around the clock, in drops. I am pissed. This was supposed to be a gift for hubby. No way would I give this to him.

My question is: Will paypal refund my money? Will they include the shipping costs I paid, which was damn near close to the amount of the item itself, or just the price of the item?

Thanks!

First when you give the member feed back you need to express your concerns
Second you need to start a dispute through Ebay

I bought something on Ebay once through paypal and paid extra for shipping insurance. I never got it, i talked a few times to the seller and found out it was a kid. I asked to talk to a parent and he wouldn't cooperate. He told me he got the insurance/confirmation but lost the slip. Finally I told him to bad and filed a paypal complaint. They immediately put a hold on the money in his account, I got a pretty nasty email stating that I better give him his money back blah blah.

Turns out it was delivered to a neighbor that had it in their apt for months. But since he "lost" the insurance slip (actually he never got it) I viewed it as his problem. When I got the item I sent him his money but he was still a turd about it, and I did pay extra for insurance which he never got.

I read her reviews. She listed the item as "one of a kind" yet in her reviews someone said they too got a clock. Would this not be false advertising?
