The price of winter gas and summer gas is probably almost the same.

Winter gas is actually cheaper, last year after Katrina the EPA Ok'd the production of winter gas early to help ease the cost of gasoline.

Oil was so expensive this year because of investors speculating that there would be a bad hurricane season in the Gulf of Mexico causing a shortage and prices skyrocketing. When this didnt happen those guys lost money and there was no shortage of oil that was predicted. Oil is sold like stock, almost auction like. Oil costs whatever people will pay for it.

The very fast industrial growth in china which was a major cause of oil to rise from $15 a barrel in the 90's to $70 a barrel recently was actually inflated by the government of China and now is pulling back due to over capacity. India's growth is more realistic.
