...but the first part is there will always be crazy people trying to harm others be it with a gun, a baseball bat, box cutters or bad music. So, that part is a given.

The second part is the right to keep and bear arms which will at least give you a chance to deal with the first part.
Very true.

Update 1

The murderer, Pekka-Eric Auvinen, died in hospital last night.

"Other pupils, and teachers, said the gunman was a militant and a radical. One teacher told the Helsinki daily newspaper that the boy was a keen student of fascism and Stalinism. The internet "manifesto" declared "to each what they deserve" and oozed contempt for "ordinary" mortals.

"I cannot say that I am of the same race as this miserable, selfish human race. No!

"I have evolved a step higher. I am prepared to fight and die for my cause ... I, as a natural selector, will eliminate all who I see unfit, disgraces of human race and failures of natural selection."

Round Selection

I personally carry a .45 or a .40SW, depending upon what cloths I'm wearing. The .45 is a sub compact and easier to conceal.

In both, I carry a varied selection of ammo. In the .40 I have Cor-Bon hi-vel ammo backed with alternating Black Talon ammo.

In the .45, I carry Cor-Bon high vel mixed with Glaser Safety frag ammo.

I do this because each ammo have differing penetration vs. expansion characteristics. High penetration takes into account one perspective, while the high rate of expansion offsets the lack of penetration.

For the IDIOT who decided to leave negative karma for my earlier post, I guess you are too stupid to have seen that I live in ARIZONA. A state that doesn't have a problem with law abiding citizens carrying firearms legally to protect themselves.

What an idiot.

Oh, and BTW.... "yeah I do".

Even if you lived in MD you could have non-resident permits and with a VA non-resident permit you could just drive accross the river and carry conealed. It is just 11 states now which do not have "shall issue" for permits, and just two that have no permits issued at all.

"Link Between Finnish Student, American Teen Probed

The teenager who killed eight people at a school in Finland this week before killing himself may have been in contact with an American teen who had designs to execute a school massacre of his own, investigators confirmed to ABC News.

"We have received rumors and information that Pekka-Eric Auvinen would have been in contact with Dillon Cossey," Rabbe von Hertzen, the detective superintendent in charge of the investigation from Finland?s National Bureau of Investigation, told ABC News. "It is probable, but we cannot confirm it."

A judge in Oregon has ruled against a high school English teacher who wanted to take her gun to school for protection.

School district policy prohibits employees from carrying firearms on school grounds. But 44-year-old Shirley Katz, who has a concealed weapons permit, says she has the right to carry the weapon for protection against intruders and her ex husband.
Teacher denied request to carry - News - Charleston, SC

Student 16-year-old Luke Woodham stabbed and beat his mother to death, then took a .30-30 lever-action deer hunting rifle to Pearl High School where he shot into a crowd of students, killing his ex-girlfriend Christina Menefee and her friend Lydia Kay Dew and wounded seven other students. The incident was ended when Vice Principal Joel Myrick took his personal .45 Colt handgun out of his vehicle and brandished it at Luke Woodham. Woodham later claimed that he did not remember killing his mother.
Myrick, the assistant principal, was a former Army Officer and had a valid Concealed Pistol License, authorizing him to carry a handgun; however, due to the law, Myrick was not allowed to carry his pistol while on school property. When Woodham began shooting in the school, Myrick ran over 1/4 mile to his truck to retrieve his weapon. He then sprinted back to the school, where he confronted Woodham.

We ban guns from schools, and only the criminals will carry guns there and no one will be armed to stop them from killing at will.
The usual anti's response to this is to ban all guns......ban all guns from society and the criminals will still have knives and can kill at will in a school just the same because no one is armed to stop them.
At 10:15 that morning, 37-year-old former janitor Mamoru Takuma entered the school armed with a kitchen knife and began stabbing numerous school children and teachers. He killed eight children, mostly between the ages of seven and eight, and seriously wounded thirteen other children and two teachers.

Update 3

"PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A teenager who admitted plotting a school attack near Philadelphia had chatted online about the Columbine massacre with a teenage outcast who killed eight people and himself in a high school shooting in Finland, the Pennsylvania boy's attorney said Monday.

But the teen was "horrified" when he found out about the Finnish attack and said he never would have suspected him of following through on a violent act, the attorney said.

Finnish police said material seized from the computer of Pekka-Eric Auvinen suggests the 18-year-old had communicated online with Dillon Cossey, 14, who was arrested in October for allegedly preparing a attack at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School in suburban Philadelphia."
