In regards to the Hoyer/Lollar race - does anyone know how many people in the area are registered D and R? Unfortunately, many people still just vote party and I think that may lose it for Lollar if there are more Democrats. He'll really need to win them over.

All I have is 2nd hand info - I didn't see the numbers myself. But at a meeting I went to last week - one of Lollar's "Field" guys told me there are DROVES of people across the 5th district who have changed from Dem to Rep. At the beginning of this year (in St. Mary's) there were 2600 more Dems than Reps registered. Just recently (in St. Mary's alone) there were only 1100 more Dems than Reps. So the numbers are changing.
On another note, I'm worried when I hear Lollar -who I support over Hoyer - is being treated like a "rock star" and being gushed over. Last politician that happened with is Barack Obama (remember his appearance on The View?) and you see where that got us. I want him to be treated as a serious politician, because that's what he's going to have to be starting right now.

Keep them on track Lollar - no generalities - no absolutes - just solid information.

Bresamil - this is not directed to you personally, but basically just highlighting your post, because last night I posted quickly and without a lot of explanation - as it was late.

For anyone who has ever gone out to hear Charles in person and waited in line to talk to him, watching how he interacts with people they know he is a very levelheaded man with a very honest & down to earth manner. Very honorable and of the utmost integrity. Humble. He is by no means a "rock star" type of guy. Charles Lollar is a man with a lot of substance, and it is clear within minutes of meeting him and just as soon as you talk to him.

The rock star reference was only in reply to the posts regarding PG County. Not my words - I was just repeating others' (in the campaign's) words - who were ALSO actually stunned at the treatment. They didn't know how else to describe it. BUT- they (the campaign) don't welcome that description either, because Lollar HIMSELF has said (I've heard him say this myself) he doesn't want you to vote for him if the only reason is because you think he can speak eloquently and looks good. (or for the color of his skin). He says things like "we already have that, and we see where that got us". If that's all you feel about him - he doesn't WANT your vote. (Again, he actually says this, I've heard it.)

But make no mistake - people were coming up to them yesterday ALL OVER PG county and telling them they WILL vote for them in November. That's pretty darn exciting stuff to hear! Last night, when his supporters heard things like that - it gave us/them a lot of encouragement! I've personally followed him for 2+ years since I first heard him speak at the 2009 Solomons Tea Party. I don't do half as much as some volunteers. (and a lot of what I do is online!) But there are others who have worked many, many more hours and they are ecstatic to hear this - why wouldn't they be? To have a solid Republican candidate to run against Steny Hoyer with an actual chance to win? That's a pretty big deal.

Yes, that type of info (the stories, etc.) is pure hearsay and anecdotal. The enthusiasm his volunteers have for him is infectious and it does serve a purpose. It helps get other people out and volunteering and we can sure use the help. There are a lot of people on forums who are not interested in anything but negativity and finding something to nitpick about which is one reason I hesitate to say *anything* like that about the campaign. But I feel if I can find ONE more Lollar supporter by telling those stories, then they will find another one, etc. That's why I tell these anecdotal stories.

But anecdotal stories are not what counts at the polls. I understand that. So people need to get out and HEAR Charles for themselves. Getting Charles in front of as many people as possible has always been MY GOAL. I want to make sure everyone knows there will be a huge need for volunteers to go into PG COUNTY and get out the vote for Charles Lollar. We need more volunteers!!!

For anyone who has doubts about Charles Lollar and are unsure of what he stands for - I encourage them to get informed about him. THE BEST way to do that is to go meet him themselves. He's not running away from his constituents - he's going out to meet & greet them all the time.

You haven't seen stupid yet. Wait until November. I don't think the GOP is going to get the turnover they're looking for. I think the idiots will put O'Malley right back into office. And they will stick Steny in there for another term as well. I HOPE I AM WRONG and Marylanders aren't really that dumb. :banghead:

It's not Marylanders as a group.... all they need is Montgomery co, PG co & Baltimore

There is a LOT of apathy out there, as there always is. A lot of people who 'see things going downhill in this district/state/country" and are ticked off at it and think there's nothing that can be done about it. Can't change most of it.

But if you want to make a difference in some small way, there is something that can be done about it. There are plenty of people out there to talk to and tell about Charles Lollar. It means getting out and helping/volunteering with the campaign. Sending money and putting out a sign is great. But telling people about Charles Lollar, asking people if they've heard Charles' ideas, inviting JUST ONE person to attend a Charles Lollar town hall meeting - can go a long way.

For example, here's something about Charles Lollar that is going to be quite different from the current representation we have in Congress right now:

Charles Lollar WILL hold a Town Hall meeting every quarter in EVERY county. That means for every person residing in our 5th district, there will be ONE meeting every 3 months close enough to their home that they can go talk to their congressman. At those town halls, he will post his voting record for everyone to see. He will take your questions, comments and concerns. He will be there- face to face with you, his constituent. (You can mix & match - go to all of them, or one in another county if you can't make the one near your home, etc. What in the heck can be better than that?!)

That's 20 Town Hall meetings a year. If you don't know what your Congressman Lollar is about after one quarter in Congress, it's your own fault because he will be accessible to you.

IF you don't LIKE what your Congressman Lollar is about after one quarter in Congress - VOTE HIM OUT the next time around. (and you won't have him to kick around long, anyway, because he's only going to stay for 2 terms, at most.)

I'm not paid to say this stuff. It's free information I've gotten just from attending his meet & greets & town halls. But hell - I'm only 1 person. I'm not going to be out doing everyone's research, disputing everyone's cynicism and negativity on these forums every day all day long. I've got 2 kids with lives and I recently went back to college. I don't have the time!

Time to grow up American voters - and get involved, spread the word, do your own research and know who you're voting for!! If, after that, we get Steny, it was rigged. IF we don't do anything of that - we deserve him. :buddies:

Have you found out the results yet?
Given that he has not posted since a few hours before returns began coming in, he may have thrown away his computer and cut his Internet cable.

Usually, he will at least say good bye after a massive defeat. :ohwell:
