I agree. He did suggest trimming up the hose as having a longer one puts more pressure on the heating element. He also said doing multiple loads per week does as well. No way to not do several loads per week as we are a family of 4.
I bet replacing that accordion type hose with a metal dryer vent pipe would greatly assist in less air flow resistance allowing the air to pass through much easier. The longer the length of dryer venting from the dryer to the outside, metal vent piping is the best at not restricting air flow. Accordion style vent hose create too much resistance and creates eddies within when the air is pushed passed the ribbed portions. The metal ones do not have this problem as it is all smooth on the inside. In addition, your clothes would probably dry faster with the metal vent piping since the air would be passing over the clothes and leaving the dryer barrel at a faster pace. Just a suggestion.

I never really considered it, but I have like a 30+ foot run on my vent hose, only the last 1ft is accordian style. Multiple 90 degree turns also. Surprised my clothes ever dry.

Yup. The longer the run, and with multiple, angles will considerably reduce the flow of air. Should consider installing a reducer. Connect the 3" end close to your dryer, and a 4" to 6" diameter duct to the other end and run that size duct to the outside. The laws of physics are at play here, conservation laws, continuity, etc. Basically, the longer the run and the smaller diameter duct, add in some angles, the more friction those air molecules encounter slowing down the total movement of air.

Meh, it's a pain in the ass to access and has been there for 25 years. I will clean it out as best as possible and continue with the less efficient drying. I would probably be more inclined to put a fan on the air intake to force more air through than rejigger the vent pipes in my floor.
