Yes there are chips for them, but the only thing a chip does for a car is advance the timing so the engine runs a little leaner which in turn creats a few more horses, I have a stage 2 jet chip in my car and when it gets cold i have to take it out because it will make my throttle stick wide open, I am glad you are safe, thats all.

Bottom line I started this thread because I had a problem with my car this morning where the acceleration scared the crap out of me. I used real life experiences for comparrison. My car picked up a whole hell of a lot faster then I ever got my dad's z28 to. Bottom line. You're the one that started the penis size contest. I could personally give a rats a$$ if your car is faster then mine or not. If I was able to afford a Lexus I could sure afford a z28. It's a matter of prefrence. I prefer my car to a z28 that's why I got it! You abviously prefer yours, good for you.

Thank god you said that and not me. They like you, so nothing will be made of it. Had I said something like that, whoa. I can only imagine the meltdown

Anyways, hopefully everything will be ok with your car.

Isn't this the last year for the camaro? Or was it last year?

Oh my, I just read through the thread you posted about the camaro. Too much testosterone in there! There IS more to a car than just going fast. Like I said, some people would ride a tricycle if a V8 was attached to it. The IS is just more "refined" IMHO. I like driving my dad's camaro. It is fun to play around in. But for a daily driver (especially if you drive long distance) it is pretty rough and noisy. I have always liked the different body styles for the camaros. I just wish the inside was "nicer". Even with leather seats and the such, it just doesn't really "grab me".

And if you live in southern maryland, a fast car doesn't gain you a lot. Unless you're one of those people who nail the gas, then nail the brake at the next stop light on 235. Then the same thing again... And again...

Hey ST, God just called me. Hell IS freezing over!

I'm not a race car driver and I sure don't need a V8 that guzzles a ton of gas either. I need comfort and style which I have both of. The fact that it's quick is just an added bonus. I really liked the Volvo S40 until I got inside one and my Honda Accord was nicer.

Pixie,

Sounds to me like the "kick down rod" on the tranny stuck when you opened it up. I've seen this in several types of cars. Not sure about the Lexus because I haven't tinkered on one of them.

Get it to the dealer and get it fixed before you hurt yourself or someone else.

I know I'm way late to this thread, but Pixie, the dealer or a good mechanic can usually determine whether an aftermarket performance chip has been added to your car. Many times visual inspection of the ECU (for evidence of it being opened) and the chip itself (reading the markings/lettiring on the back of the chip)will give it away, and the computer scan tool can also usually tell if the chip is aftermarket or OEM when the ECU is read by the scan tool.

A chip itself, on a non-turbo car, with no other modifications, only increases performance a small amount. We're talking 10hp max, so while it may be noticeable to a well-calibrated fanny, it won't cause a rip-roaring increase in performance. So instead of running 0-60mph in 7.7 secs, maybe you can do 7.5 secs. I know because I have a chip in my '96 VW Jetta. It doesn't do all that much.
