A great program for moving from walking to running is "Couch to 5k", you can dl the podcast for free to your mp3 player, they also have a 10k program.

Proform isnt a bad brand. Buy the extended warrenty and stay away from the pretty heart rate monitors that come on them. The heart rate monitors that are attached to them only show trends (increasing/decreasing) not actual HR.
