Elon Musk becomes Twitter's largest shareholder

"I think he intends to go active and force change at Twitter," said Dan Ives, tech analyst as Wedbush Securities. "This is a shot across the bow at Twitter's board and management team to start discussions."

Honestly, I could give a crap about the viper filled cesspool that is Twitter. I don't want them to reform, I want them to crash and burn. It's like CNN and the Democrat Party - I don't want them to pretend to be better to improve their public image; that's just a sham and a PR move. I want them to become obsolete, go away for good.

Being the largest shareholder he has enough of a vote to influence the board of director makeup. It's important to find out what kind of shares he owns.

Zuckerberg owns less than 13% of facebook, but over half of the shares that have voting rights.

Power with Control
With owning only 9.2%, can he really do that much?

Here's the thing. He's the largest individual shareholder. Pay attention to the analyst above who mentions the term "shot across the bow". While this purchase doesn't give him control of the company in any legal way, its effectively him telling them that he can come buy enough that he will be in control. His fortune is such that he can buy a controlling stake almost any time he wants. Then just knowing he cares enough to spend that much to send a message is power in its own right.

This move is like Mom yelling from the other room "Dont make me come in there". Or Bruce Banner saying "Don't make me angry. You wont like me when I'm angry".

Yes but that depends upon them being smart enough to comprehend it and not so arrogant to ignore it.

Their Ideology will trump that.

So What .... Musk cannot buy controlling interest .. to many institutional share holders
What's to stop him from gradually buying say, all of the shares of the botttom 5 institutions?
What's to stop back door deals from taking place, allowing him to acquire all that he wishes?
You do realize this man has enough money to start buying off 3 letter agencies and high profile Gov't Officials, just like George Soros, don't you?

I read yesterday that Musk spent $2.64B for a little over 73 million shares. At the close of trading, those shares were worth $3.73B!

I feel good when I win $4 on Powerball

No kidding, right. I'm sure Bernie and Liz will be along shortly to explain why he should pay taxes on the extra billion. Without explaining how they would compensate him if the stock tanks and its suddenly worth 1.7 billion.
