Empty Nest Syndrome - Please HELP!

OMG Vrai! Wish I'd have seen this yesterday!!! How cool. You've got such great kids.

If he's smart he won't change career fields. Him and his wife can land some very nice jobs (close to where you live) if and when they choose to get out of the military.

See Christy...

...that's the thing.

Ideally, the boy will be wrapped up in what he is doing (career) for a few years so he can say at the end of his hitch that he was all he could be. He is, err, umm...wrapped up in something else right now.

Get this: He asked me (paraphrasing now) "Umm...is it...uh...wierd...you know...in addition to, well, you know, um...is it OK I mean...well...I mean is it odd to also actually LIKE the girl???"

I said, summoning up all my years experience, "Yes."

We are dying to meet her at Christmas.

Sounds like a forum party at Vrail & Larry's house.

I cannot imagine being in either of your shoes right now. Your comments have certainly been thought provoking. My children are young and a part of me was a little upset that the family grew out of the 4-Runner, but one day, I will be feeling the effects of having an empty nest.

And, your kids do sound as if they have been raised right.

Well, they don't plan on having kids right away do they? Military married to military (with no children) is probably about the best way to be. You get to move out of the dorms and don't have to mess with all that room inspection garbage.

Yeah...

...I'll inform the PFC's that the entire SOMD web community will be coming by for inspection!

"We trust your judgment boy, but, we talk about you so much all these people you don't even know have developed a vested interest..."

He'll say..."Hmm...are they bringing gifts???"

Practical and tactical!

IM4, we appreciate the comments but, that's the thing about children. "Raised right". We all know many people whom nobody would say were raised particularly "right", some whom all would agree were raised "wrong" who turned out as great adults and even parents, responsible, fun, happy. And then the converse...

Maybe it's all no more than a crap shoot!?

That said, poor Jessica. We'll be checking teeth, tapping on knees, checking her heart rate..."So, lassie, how do you feel about the Magna Carta and what's your time in the 40???"

:killingme

Are ya gonna make em sleep seperately when they come visit? I know when I met Steve's parents they had a fit when we stayed in the same room. (and we were both mid-late 20's divorcees)

I would hope so. There are still younger kids at home that might later say, "but Dad, you let Jessica sleep with Doug".

Enjoy the empty nest if you ever get it, daughter#2 called yesterday. Her question, "Dad can I move back home?"

Am I crazy...

...or was a post deleted?

In reference to the ring I took back and the money going into the basement, it's not in a jar! It's in 2 by 4's, drywall, carpet, paint and such!

Nope, it's still here! It was in the Kobe thread.

OK...

...so I kinda lost my mind.

Hanging on by a thread as it were. It's all coming back to me now, Kobe, ring, $...

Sounds like you're pretty traumatized by the whole experience. :bubble:

Whenever I feel...

...trauma, I just look up your avatar. Distracts me totally from whatever is bothering me and might even have saved poor Kobe a few bucks!
