Get estimates from two or three contractors, showing a price for repair.. the "adjuster" apparently had no clue and did a "SWAG" to come up with the repair bill..
They hope you'll take what you get without complaint, but if you DO complain they will pay what they should of orignally.
Remember, insurance companies are profit making, if they are generous with you that will cut into their profits, and their A++ ratings..
We had four contractors with written estimates. Did not matter. They refused to re inspect the property. We submitted all required forms and they dropped the claim and said we have two years to re-open it. I will without doubt when we can afford it. Right now it is all we can do to just pay the bills. It cost thousands of dollars which I had to borrow from friends and relatives. That hurts. I have never had to ask for help from anyone. Again because of Nationwide our life has been turned upside down. They could care less who they fraud.
