you didn't answer her question at all.

But the OP raises an interesting point, if you don't think statues are appropriate the rest of the year what makes them OK at xmas?

You are in the Radi1 class.
I did answer the question. I never said statues were appropriate or inappropriate at any time. But if one worships them at any time, then we have differences. Comprende in your hood?

It was answered, but in your condescension and smarminess, you fail to comprehend. Are you Abraham bargaining with God on what the right amount is?

You're not God and I'm not bargaining. I was asking you a question. Since I failed to comprehend your answer due to my condescension and smarminess, would you kindly re-post your answer?

So your answer to my question would be something akin to, "In my opinion, you can have any number of religious items as long as you don't worship them at any time." Had you just said so in a straightforward manner you would have avoided being pressed by me and feeling belittled because of it.

Please. If you had just stated as much in your first retort.......But you would still have not comprehended. You have no specific numbers, neither do I.

We see no need for them. Those who believe see God in every aspect of life and nature.

We have a table in front of the pulpit with the "In Remembrance of Thee" carved out that we use weekly for our memorial breaking of bread remembrance, and an about 7' x 7' very nice stained glass cross elevated about 4' behind the pulpit, and in front of the baptismal tank that we can slide for baptisms. Our focus is on God and His Son, not items, from our hearts.

Please. If you had just stated as much in your first retort.......But you would still have not comprehended. You have no specific numbers, neither do I.

There was no retort, there was a question. A question that was asked of you, not me; hence, no need for me to have stated my opinion on the matter, but rather you clarifying yours. I would have comprehended fine had you just come out and answered the question directly. But no matter. I agree, there aren't any specific numbers and I'm glad you see it that way.

Honest question here--what is the thinking behind displaying manger scenes during the Christmas season in your churches whether inside or out but deemed idolatrous any other time of year to have statues?

The difference here is that we don't pray to the nativity.

As I have been told.... Catholics don't pray to Mary or any other saints.... they use them as an intermediary..... much like my asking others to pray for me..... Displaying the Nativity is not the same.

IMHO....Nativity sets or plays or displays bring Christ back into Christmas. We all know that Christ was not really born on the 25th of December. The sale of presents and trees and nativities bolster the market at the end of the calendar year. BUT if we can display the Nativity, we can use the pagan holiday to educate and celebrate the Birth of Christ.

It's a good thing....

With all due respect HC, no Christian denomination teaches its adherents to pray to any inanimate object. That is a given.

My beef, is that protestants are caught in what can only be described as hypocrisy. Can't have it both ways--if Protestants want to display a manger scene at Christmas--including the Virgin Mary, then they can never challenge Catholics or Orthodox from displaying statues/icons year round. This has nothing to do with idolatry.

As you have been told numerous times, Catholics don't worship Mary or her statues so you should have no differences with them.

BTW, the solar scripture folks are actually the closest to idolatry with their reverence of 'the book' and not god. The book is just that, an object.

I said that.... I said catholics talk to them as an intermediary.... not that they worship them.... See.... I said "Catholics don't pray to Mary or any other saints"

OK We [protestants] aren't praying to the nativity anymore than the catholics.... I said... we use the Nativity sets to bring the Christ back to Christmas. If we display the Nativity sets... it opens conversation allowing us to educate and celebrate....

I was not picking on the Catholics or the Protestants or the Pagans..... It's a good thing....
