I read a post that said that Evans Seafood has really gone downhill...is this true? I was going there this weekend for my birthday!

Some friends and I were talking about that place the other day but I can't imagine that, because they just rebuilt everything they had so I would think it would be doing better.

I've been wanting to go there myself lately to.

Sorry to say but that was me that went there the other day for crabs. I have to tell you that it was the worst dinner I have ever had. I am not the only one that found this out the hard way too, some friends of mine went there recently and they couldnt believe how bad it was. I ordered crabs and they were so overcooked that there was more water in them than meat. Also, when you are from here you are used to getting Apple Cider Vinagar with your dinner and all they had was malt vinagar. I also ordered coconut shrimp and it tasted burnt. I will not go back again and it is a shame since it is close to where I live.

Evan's Seafood - Big Disappointment

We had dinner at Evan's Seafood on 21 June 2008. The menu consisted of two typed pages stapled together, there were probably 15 entrees on it, and you could take anyone off the street and in 15 minutes teach them how to cook everything on the menu. The service was terrible - drinks in 15 minutes, two seafood baskets in 45 minutes, and it took 20 minutes for our server to stop flirting with her boyfriend and figure out the check. We paid about $15 for an oyster/shrimp basket - which amounted to about 8 small pieces of seafood and a handful of french fries. If you value service and quality stay away from Evan's Seafood. You will get much better value at any seafood restaurant on Solomon's Island.

When people stop going because of food/service like that, maybe they'll kick it up a notch. As far a Solomons. Yecch. I had stuffed shrimp that were obviously out of the frozen food section.

Stoney's is good and so is the Pier. :yay:

He's talking about the Pier. We ate there this Spring and it was awful. My dinner was also something that came out of the freezer section, but tasted worse. I do like Stoneys, though. Never had bad food there. :yay:

You mean Stoneys/Kingfisher? I had a meal there not too long ago, and it was just ok. Nothing to get excited about, and a bit pricey, more than I thought it would be.

There's a seafood place I'm going to this Friday on Long Island. I wish we had a place like it down here. The Lobster Roll. Their signature dish is the Lobster Roll, (duh) and it is wonderful. And their Lobster-stuffed flounder, all fresh caught, nothing frozen. Top off with Larry's margaritas which have been renamed LarryRitas, and it's a great evening.

I'm disappointed to hear about Evans. I was going to give them some "break-in" time before I tried it. Hope they get better.

Just got back from Brooklyn working at a resort called Sea Gate Beach Club.

The steak and cheese was :yum: the best I think I've had. Uncle Sals Pizza was awesome. :yay: Oh and the cold bud light sitting on the beach enhanced the pizza very well.

Give the pier another try. If it's not to your liking then ask for the mgr. I think her name is Jessie. She'll take care of you. If it doesn't happen, let me know.

Since we are on the topic of seafood restaruants..........I gave Drift Inn a shot tonight. Last time I was there we were pleased. The food was good, etc etc. That was about 2 years ago.

Tonight..... Service was good, food was ok, depending on what you ordered. The main issue were the portions. They absolutely sucked. Hardly any food on your plate for the prices they charge you. For example: 4 stuffed shrimp (the size of normal shrimp) and about 12 small french fries: $18.00. I'm sorry but appetizers are larger than that.

Probably won't go back there.

I'm surprised Leonard opened at all this year.

I don't think I'll go back there, ever. CD Cafe is great, though.
